HARLEY-DAVIDSON® PROJECT LIVEWIRE™ EXPERIENCE TOUR NOW ALSO IN EUROPE
The Motor Company invites motorcyclists worldwide to help decide on the final design of the first electric Harley-Davidson
OXFORD (February 24, 2015) – Motorcycle fans around the world now have the chance to help shape Project LiveWire™ into the first production electric-powered Harley-Davidson as the Project LiveWire™ Experience Tour takes place worldwide in 2015.
The presentation of this machine caused quite a stir last year. In 2015, in addition to interested parties in the United States, customers in Asia, Europe and Canada are invited to ride the bike and give Harley-Davidson their feedback to further advance development. The test drives begin at the end of February with an event at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
“Project LiveWire has redefined how people imagine a Harley-Davidson,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Harley-Davidson Chief Marketing Officer. “In the first phase of the Project LiveWire Experience Tour, American riders told us their impressions of the machine and gave us valuable feedback. This year we are expanding with our Experience Tour because we want to gain global insights that will help us shape the future of this fascinating technology.”
Project LiveWire™ Bikes are non-saleable prototypes with which the Motor Company wants to determine customer expectations of an electrically powered Harley-Davidson®. As part of the Project LiveWire Experience, the company invites motorcyclists to take a test ride. They'll gain insight into the motorcycle's potential future and provide Harley-Davidson with their feedback on the machine. On the authentic Jumpstart™ driving simulator, even fans without a driving license have the opportunity to gain an impression of the power of the electrically powered bike.
Last year, Harley-Davidson collected more than 15,000 opinions, suggestions and wishes about Project LiveWire, including around 6,800 impressions from customers who took a test ride on the machine. The Project LiveWire Experience Tour stopped in 30 U.S. cities and also included an event in Miami specifically targeted at Latin American customers. Whether and in what form an electric Harley-Davidson will come onto the market in the future depends on the feedback from customers on the Project LiveWire Experience Tour.
Highlights of the 2015 tour, which includes events in eight countries on three continents, include:
• Test drives for press representatives and invited customers at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia from February 25th to March 4th.
• A contest for European motorcyclists.
