EU and US extend trade deal | Harley-Davidson punitive tariffs suspended until 2025!
In a significant step to defuse the trade dispute, the European Union and the United States decided to extend their deal to resolve the dispute over steel and aluminum tariffs until March 31, 2025. This decision also affects the suspension of special EU tariffs on some US products, including Harley-Davidson motorcycles .
The special tariffs were originally imposed in response to tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the EU introduced by the US government under President Donald Trump in 2018. These retaliatory measures have had a significant impact on companies such as Harley-Davidson that export their products to the EU.
The latest extension of the deal is a clear sign of both sides' willingness to find a long-term solution to this long-standing trade dispute. The suspension of tariffs will provide significant relief not only to Harley-Davidson , but also to other affected US exporters and strengthen EU-US trade relations.
For Harley-Davidson, this development represents a welcome reprieve. The company has suffered from the additional costs and competitive pressures caused by the tariffs. Harley-Davidson can now count on uninterrupted access to the European market until at least 2025.
This move also underlines the continued commitment to free and fair trade that complies with World Trade Organization rules. It is hoped that the extension of the deal will promote a lasting solution to the trade dispute.
