Harley-Davidson donates fantastic prize for long-time Faak visitor
• Participant in European Bike Week in Glück
• Brand new Harley-Davidson for the festival veteran
• Faak: the largest brand-independent and free-entry motorcycle and music festival in Europe
Ana „Mamana“ Ivancic from Slovenia had no idea what was in store for her when she was asked to come on stage at the 20th European Bike Week on Friday evening. Like many other Harley fans from all over Europe, she had responded to the Motor Company's call to submit an exciting, interesting, or funny story from two decades of European Bike Week to the customer magazine HOG. What she didn't know was that Harley-Davidson would reward her story with a brand-new Forty-Eight in the „European Bike Week“ look.
This time, Ana traveled with her husband Jan and two of her five children. Visibly moved, she said: „This win is a total surprise and a great honor that I never expected. I attended the very first European Bike Week in 1998 and loved it so much that I've been coming back every year on my Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Hopefully, I'll be able to attend for the next 20 years too – maybe even with my children, if they catch the Harley bug as well. Who knows, maybe they'll ride this Forty-Eight to Lake Faaker See one day!“
In the run-up to the event, the Harley Owners Group had already published numerous memories from participants in previous years online, a selection of which will also be featured in the next HOG magazine.
Trevor Barton, Harley-Davidson International Consumer Experience Manager, comments: „For the 20th anniversary of European Bike Week, we wanted to do something really special for the community of Harley owners and motorcyclists – because it is their participation that has made European Bike Week the huge event it is today. And what better way to celebrate this relationship than by giving one of our most loyal fans and his family a motorcycle? We kept this a secret until the very last second. Ana's reaction and the atmosphere among the enthusiastic crowd were priceless.“
The celebration of the 20th anniversary of European Bike Week took place on the shores of Lake Faaker See in southern Austria, the same place where European Bike Week was launched in 1998 to mark the 95th anniversary of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. That year, with Willie G. Davidson himself in attendance, thousands of Harley riders and fans gathered in Carinthia for the first time. Thanks in no small part to the perfect cooperation with the residents and numerous companies in the region, this event was a great success and has been repeated every year since.

Today, „Faak“ is a traditional pilgrimage destination for many participants at the end of the season. The closing party for Harley-Davidson riders and other motorcycle enthusiasts, as well as party-goers of all kinds, attracts over 100,000 visitors every year. The top musical acts in 2017 included Black Stone Cherry and Danko Jones, and the highlight of the supporting program was the first-ever flat track race with modified Harley-Davidson Street Rod 750 bikes on a specially prepared dirt track oval.
The date for next year has already been set:
European Bike Week 2018 will take place from September 4 to 9 – as usual at Lake Faaker See in Austria.
