• Donation of 9,524 US dollars to the German aid organization for street children
• “Off Road Kids” has helped around 3,800 children off the streets since 1994
(Neu-Isenburg, January 6, 2016) They are often sensitive, usually completely inconspicuous and they come from a wide variety of social classes: the German “Off Road Kids” foundation estimates that around 2,500 kids and young people run away from home in this country every year . They are fleeing neglect, mistreatment or abuse, and around 300 of them become permanent street children, living from begging, prostitution or petty theft.
“In a country like ours, there don't have to be street children,” says Daniel Becker, Marketing Project Manager at Harley-Davidson Harley-Davidson also donated in 2015 Foundation again to Germany's only nationwide aid organization for street children, which operates street work stations in major German cities, children's homes in the Black Forest and a parent hotline for sound advice. Last December, Daniel Becker and Matthias Meier from the Frankfurt dealer Harley-Factory a check for $9,524 to the chairman of the “Off Road Kids” Foundation, Markus Seidel.
The author and journalist, who founded the foundation in 1993, will use the donation for operational work in the street work stations in Berlin, Hamburg , Dortmund and Cologne. Four to five street workers per location approach the young runaways and work with them to quickly find the best possible future prospects. The most promising option is implemented with the kids, parents and, if necessary, the youth welfare office. “Off Road Kids has helped around 3,800 young people off the streets since 1994,” explains Seidel, “and we want to continue to get involved where our help is urgently needed. Since the work of our street workers is entirely financed by donations, we are very pleased that Harley-Davidson is supporting us again.”
