Harley-Davidson Ulm celebrates its 20th anniversary
Big party on July 6 and 7 in Erbach-Ringingen
(Erbach, May 16, 2019) How time flies! In 1999, Walter Maygatt, known to everyone in the motorcycle scene as „Zabel,“ signed a contract with Harley-Davidson GmbH and became an authorized dealer for the motorcycle brand from Milwaukee, USA. 20 years of House of Flames – that calls for a celebration! That's why on Saturday, July 6, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sunday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be celebrations at Wiesengraben 3-1 in Erbach-Ringingen near Ulm: „Zabel,“ his son and designated successor Sascha Maygatt, and the entire team will be celebrating the first two decades of their company, and all fans of hot bikes are cordially invited to join in.
The party will be a huge celebration of the Harley-Davidson lifestyle: whether visitors are looking for custom parts, fashion, and accessories or have their eye on a complete bike, the selection promises to be enormous.
Several musicians take to the stage with the finest rock and blues, the sexy bike wash removes even the most stubborn dirt from paintwork and chrome, and the multitude of high-quality custom bikes inspires awe and sparks ideas for modifying your own machine. The Einstein Chapter Ulm of the Harley Owners Group is responsible for catering, and young fans can look forward to their own children's entertainment.
„When we started out with the dealer agreement in our pocket, everything was still a size smaller,“ recalls „Zabel“ Maygatt—revealing a certain tendency toward understatement. After all, he had already been working with motorcycles for a decade and a half at that point, setting up a store and workshop in Erbach-Ringingen and establishing HPU, a renowned company for fat bikes, countless custom parts, and impressive conversions.
It is no coincidence that the Harley dealership for the greater Ulm area has always stood out not only for its huge range of motorcycles, clothing, and accessories, but also for its custom-made parts and the team's exceptional skills in converting US bikes—when it comes to design, tuning, and performance optimization, House of Flames is the place to go.
From the outset, business boomed on the southeastern edge of the Swabian Alb and developed so magnificently that House of Flames expanded just two years later: Maygatt opened his second Harley-Davidson store in Munich, and from then on, hordes of American V-Twins populated Zamdorfer Straße in the Bavarian capital.
2011 saw the next big step for House of Flames: in a convenient location with direct access to the A96 motorway, a third Harley store was opened at Anton-Böck-Straße 32 in the west of Munich – with a spacious showroom and light-flooded work and sales rooms.
Here, at House of Flames Munich West, customers can enjoy juicy burgers and the finest steaks for the first time, in addition to motorcycles, clothing, and accessories. With the Feuer & Flamme restaurant, the store offers an inviting diner-style dining area, including a large roof terrace.
Five years later, Maygatt's first Harley-Davidson dealership in Munich was finally bursting at the seams. It was time to move—from Zamdorfer Straße 4 to Zamdorfer Straße 20. At its new location, the House of Flames Munich East megastore finally offers more space for the Harley-Davidson lifestyle and everything that goes with it. Since last year, the Maygatt team has also been represented in the Rosenheim region.
The fourth House of Flames—responsible for Upper Bavaria—was built on an area of around 1,000 square meters at Sebastian-Tiefenthaler-Straße 16 in Rohrdorf.
„We are all wholeheartedly committed to this, and that will never change,“ says Sascha Maygatt, now managing director in Ulm, explaining the recipe for success. You can feel this spirit in the House of Flames – no matter which of the now four branches you enter.
