Instead of Dresden, visit the St. Petersburg Harley Days now!
It was officially announced at very short notice that the Dresden Harley Days 2018 would not take place, the real reasons are probably a little deeper and don't necessarily have anything to do with the authorities. There are several people involved who have different opinions about what everyone can follow on social media and, as so often, money also plays a role.
Experience has shown that holding an event of this magnitude is very expensive and cannot be achieved without long-term planning and a few enthusiasts at your side. Expensive security concepts from the authorities often do the rest for them, the income should at best be generated without admission, finding the right balance is very difficult and many chefs then quickly spoil the broth.
For Harley-Davidson, it doesn't reflect particularly well on the traditionally popular Harley Days ; the name is also used in Hamburg and St. Petersburg .
But that doesn't mean that the events belong together; in Hamburg, the uba gmbh events & event-consulting Bergmann Group organizes the Harley Days independently for Harley-Davidson. In Dresden it is All in One Event GmbH, what the actual constellation was there is perhaps no longer so important, in any case it has nothing to do with Hamburg or St. Petersburg. Hamburg is known to have its own problems, but here it is due to the red/green politics and you can vote them out. Some people on social networks are rightly complaining about the late cancellation, some hotels can no longer be canceled free of charge and what do you do with the free time? Booked bands, dealers, everyone who wanted to go to Dresden now has a hole in their calendar.
The St. Petersburg Harley Days are a beautiful event in a city worth seeing.
the Harley Days are taking place in St. Petersburg . It's not around the corner, but it's worth it. For example, you can travel by boat, from Stockholm and Helsinki you can go directly to St. Petersburg, which is very easy, or you can take the ferry to Helsinki and then to St. Petersburg on the Harley. It is also possible by plane or on a Harley via Poland or Estonia. You can get the support you need for a special visa at info@harleysite.de . The hammer blow is now lastingly bad for Dresden. There are probably still people who might want to try again in 2019, but anyone who cancels at such short notice will have to work hard to earn trust for the future.
And not only for the visitors, but also for the helpers from 2017, because without them it will be even more difficult.
