The possible Harley-Davidson models for 2024 ! The presentation is expected to take place on January 24th, 2024. This year it was particularly difficult to find out some hot information about the 2024 Harley-Davidson model year . Somewhat surprisingly, Harley-Davidson in the USA started delivering the carry-over models in December and the first new colors are known.

Pan America 2024

There were first rumblings about the Pan America. Already in the summer there was a rumor circulating that the Pan America series was to be expanded to include a somewhat high-quality model. It will be a special color and the equipment, otherwise only minimal changes are expected Pan America 2024 Unfortunately, there probably won't be a black trim version where we would see a black painted engine.

In general, the Pan America can be changed like a Camelion. In a completely black version, including a black engine, it would definitely be an eye-catcher with a bad boy image. This all-black version would reflect the rebellious nature of the Harley-Davidson brand. In this highly competitive segment, it has to fight its way through like nowhere else.

Joan Pedrero already drives a black Pan America, of course I thought that the engine, exhaust and windshield should be just as black. This is suboptimal when it comes to the windshield, but when it comes to beauty, practicality takes a back seat these days.

The initial software issues that affected some Pan America have been resolved as of spring 2023. My tip would be the Pan America with the really great AHR suspension. If you prefer to go off-road, you should take the Pan America Standard to stay as light as possible. It is unlikely that a Pan America 975 will come in 2024. I would definitely recommend buying another one from the 2023 vintage for the 1250 models.

Speculation and Expectations: There is no indication that Harley-Davidson will discontinue any models in 2024. Unfortunately, nothing is heard about the CVO Limited models, which suggests that the current CVO Street Glide and CVO Road models will be exclusively equipped with the new and very powerful 121 Cui engine.

Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special are fully in focus in 2024!

Harley-Davidson has the two Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special models at the top of the list. The money makers will almost certainly adopt the designs of the CVO 2023 models. This means that all other models are overshadowed by the two top-selling Grand American Tourer models. We saw the last facelift during the model change from 2013 to 2014, where the Daymaker and the split vent found their place in the fairing.

At Harley-Davidson you follow certain routines and after about ten years there are usually major changes. The navigation system on the special models is actually a year old, but that may be due to the pandemic. The big question is actually what will they take over from the respective CVO?!

Is the Skyline OS information system now coming to the special models?

If it were a question of production costs, I would agree that screens and circuit boards are less complex to produce and probably more cost-effective than the complex mechanical components. However, so far there is little information to support this assumption, but it is not the case that there is none, see the Street Glide Blue Burst image. As far as the daytime running lights and the design of the fairing are concerned, these are considered fixed components - a constant that has never changed in the past. There is no obvious reason why Harley-Davidson should introduce different production lines here.

The big question is the chassis and the engine! They won't install the 121 VVT engine in the special models, and no one believes in another version with less displacement. However, it may well be possible that the 117 Milwaukee-Eight will find its way into the Street Glide Special and the Road Glide Special. That would be a real challenge, but this vision immediately brings to light a new mystery!

What happens to the popular ST models?

That's really the biggest question for me right now! The excavator races will be held in the USA again in 2024, so there must again be the ST models based on the race. But what will they look like and what engine will they have on the road in 2024? In the end there are more questions than answers!

There is some unrest in this area, especially as to how the higher price of the latest models can be justified compared to the special models. If Harley-Davidson brings the new special models for 2024 with the 117 engine onto the market, the question arises about the added value of the ST models .

However, if no changes are made, this again raises the question of why the ST models are now offered in several colors that appear to be identical to those of the Special models. These developments could indicate a realignment in product strategy, the exact reasons and goals of which still need to be clarified. You can find the ST models in the color list under the names Street Glide ST = FLHXST and Road Glide ST = FLTXST.

Excavator Race Race 2024

The spark hasn't really caught on in Germany at the Bagger Races yet. Harley-Davidson is considering launching a new overall concept in 2024. So far it's been more of an excavator party race, not a real race, which is probably the problem. Now there are probably considerations about joining the IDM (International German Motorcycle Championship). Or you can find an independent organizer with whom you can organize your own events. In the USA the Bagger Race racing series is a huge success.

2024 Limited Tourer: Probably no major changes, but new color options for Ultra Tourer

I don’t expect any changes to the limited tourers. A little further down is a table with the new paint colors, the Ultra Limited is offered in 6 color versions and the Road Glide Limited in 5 color versions, but neither comes in the Whiskey Fire paint, whatever that may look like.

My guess is that we won't hear anything new in the Limited model area before 2025, it is known that capacity is tight in some areas at Harley-Davidson. In 2024, full attention will be on the special models in order to generate sales so that the mood on the stock market is positive again.

As already mentioned, a list of Harley-Davidson colors has been published in the USA. These are sometimes carry-over models that will be delivered between the 2023/2024 model years. What is unusual is that delivery to dealers in the USA began in December.

The new colors make a good impression, I'm curious to see how the color Red Rock comes across in the original. Here we see her on a Low Rider ST.

Future of the Road King Special: Fight for survival in the Harley-Davidson lineup?

As already mentioned, the focus is primarily on the two Special models, while the Road King Special is more on the sidelines. This model, which is very appealing in itself, seems to just run along with Harley-Davidson without attracting much attention - a trend that has been emerging for years.

If the Road King Special is not equipped with the 117 engine in 2024, I am unsure whether we will still see this model on the market in 2025. Now that the Classic model has already been removed from the range, the Road King Special could soon be a thing of the past. Harley-Davidson typically plans such developments well in advance; I remember that the Heritage was listed in this vehicle class for a time, so that could possibly have been a sign of these considerations?

Special models in focus: review of 2023 and preview of 2024 at Harley-Davidson

Last year we saw a wealth of special models, but there is little to report about special models for the 2024 model year. This topic will probably only become more relevant again next summer. There will certainly be another model from the Icons Collection, and the history of the Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection will certainly continue to be written.

Financial planning for Harley enthusiasts: Do the new special models come with daytime running lights?

My advice for those who are excited about the daytime running lights on the new CVO models: It might be wise to take a look at your financial reserves and look into the new colors. I heard this assumption on a broad level that Harley-Davidson is working on refreshing the two TOP models in the Special class.

The current 2023 models with 114 and 117 engines have by no means become worse; You could even save some money here at the moment. However, the price development for 2024 remains uncertain.

What is certain is that general costs will continue to rise. The toll alone has already increased by over 80% in December 2023, and it is better not to talk about the CO2 tax in 2024. Inflation is being further fueled by poor political decisions, and Harley-Davidson's higher prices have not been well received by customers this year.

It is clear that Harley-Davidson has to generate sales. However, my guess is that prices could remain stable and the company will absorb the higher costs. Otherwise, I don't expect any major changes. The big question mark is the ST models, I'm particularly curious to see how they will approach this model range in the 2024 model year.
