In Hamburg they say goodbye
The Georg Suck company is leaving the network of German Harley-Davidson dealers
You should go when it's most beautiful.
No phrase better describes the repositioning of Germany's most traditional motorcycle dealer family, the Suck, for whom a very special era as a
Harley-Davidson authorized dealer came to an end in 2012.
The history of one of the oldest Harley-Davidson dealerships in Germany is as impressive as the development of the now 110-year-old Harley-Davidson brand itself. Fascinated by all kinds of machines, company founder Georg Suck began servicing and repairing motorcycles around 1910 . He quickly becomes the competent contact person for wealthy long-distance travelers and ship officers who have imported their dream motorcycle, made in Milwaukee, USA, to the city on the Elbe. Due to the lack of maintenance books and parts, maintenance and service of the extraordinary US bikes require Suck's entire talent for improvisation.
But even in tough times, the Hanseatic two-wheeler connoisseur always finds a way to keep his customers' exotic bikes running.
A commitment that does not go unnoticed by the company management in distant America. In Georg Suck was appointed authorized Harley-Davidson dealer and importer for Germany and became a crucial link between German Harley fans and American V-Twin dreams.
Almost 90 years, two Suck generations, various business moves and countless Harleys later, the era of Suck as a veteran among official dealer agencies is now coming to an end. An era that Harley-Davidson looks back on with pride and gratitude and which contributed to the motor company being able to celebrate its extraordinary anniversary in 2013.
