Inside OCC - A project with a personal background

The Hudson Valley SPCA Bike is not a classic show bike. It was created out of a personal connection. Paul Teutul Sr. has been vice president of the Hudson Valley SPCA board for many years and is closely involved in the organization's work. From the outset, the project was designed to raise awareness of animal welfare and provide concrete support.

The bike was built directly at Orange County Choppers in Newburgh. Unlike many pure exhibition pieces, it was deliberately kept rideable. It features an S&S engine combined with a Baker transmission. Powerful, but controllable. A motorcycle that not only looks good, but can also be ridden.

Craftsmanship instead of television backdrop

Several well-known names from the US custom scene were involved in the project. People who are less known for their television appearances and more for their work. The paintwork and airbrush work contribute greatly to the bike's impact. Animals are hand-painted on the tank and fender, including Bella, a dog who survived the fire at the SPCA shelter in 2014. These details give the bike an extra dimension that you only notice when you take a closer look.

Charity with a clear idea

The OCC SPCA bike was not sold, but financed through a raffle. The tickets were limited, and all proceeds went to the Hudson Valley SPCA. Mathematically, the potential donation volume was up to $125,000. However, it was not so much the sum that was decisive as the signal that this project sent.

This video is part of my series Inside OCC – Memories. It's not about nostalgia or television history, but about projects, people, and moments that you don't often see on TV. Many of the recordings have been sitting on my hard drives for a long time and have not been published until now.
