JOAN PEDRERO IS SUCCESSFUL IN THE AFRICA ECO RACE ON A HARLEY-DAVIDSON
For the first time, Joan Pedrero finished the Africa Eco Race on an HD Pan America 1250
FRANKFURT (January 17, 2023) - Once again, Dakar professional Joan Pedrero made history when he finished the 15th edition of the Africa Eco Race on a Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250: The Spaniard took first place in the Maxitrail category and 25th in the overall ranking.
For 16 days, Pedrero skillfully piloted a Pan America 1250, the first HD adventure touring bike. The challenging race highlighted the extraordinary capabilities of the machine, powered by the powerful, liquid-cooled 1250cc Revolution Max 1250, and demonstrated how much it embodies the spirit of adventure that is part of the DNA of the American motorcycle brand. Pedrero exceeded all expectations and impressively demonstrated what the US bike is capable of. Very few changes were made to it for participation in the race, making it an almost completely standard model. The few adjustments included small modifications to the radiator due to the extreme desert conditions.
Pedrero entered the race from a strong position and remained in the top 20 of the field throughout the first four days on the challenging track. Despite some setbacks, neither he nor the Pan America 1250 gave up and boldly overcame all the challenges that stood in their way. In the end, the versatility, power and handling of the American machine left a big impression on both the audience and the other drivers.
Kolja Rebstock, Regional Vice President Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Harley-Davidson Motor Company, congratulated: “We are thrilled with the outcome of this race and Joan Pedrero’s incredible performance. Crazy escapades are just as much a part of the roots of our brand as powerful performance.
And the Pan America 1250 that completed this race is a great example of how we will continue to exceed people’s expectations by pushing technology and performance to the extreme.”
The Motor Company's participation in this competition impressively demonstrated the performance and reliability of the Pan America 1250. Freedom and adventure are part of Harley-Davidson's DNA and with the Adventure Touring Bike, the company is opening up completely new ways to experience the brand.
