Bielefeld - Sennestadt - On March 14, 2024, the traffic service of the Bielefeld police headquarters conducted a large-scale operation together with the LAFP NRW (State Office for Training, Advanced Training and Personnel Affairs of the North Rhine-Westphalia Police Traffic control in the Sennestadt area.
The LAFP NRW held a training event “Drug and alcohol controls in road traffic” at the police training center in Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock. During the subsequent practical implementation of the checks at the fire station in Bielefeld Sennestadt, the training participants supported the officers of the Bielefeld police.
Several drivers driving under the influence of drugs
A total of eight drivers had to give blood samples because they drove their vehicle on public roads despite taking drugs. Their voluntary drug pre-tests were positive on site. A specially requested doctor supported the police officers at the checkpoint throughout, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and quickly. The drivers who became suspicious then had themselves picked up from the checkpoint because they were prohibited from continuing to drive until the effects of drug consumption had worn off. You will also soon receive mail from the city of Bielefeld's fines office.
Seizures and reports on several motorized two-wheelers
The driver and owner of a black Harley-Davidson , a 39-year-old from Bielefeld, had tampered with the exhaust system. As a result, the bike was significantly too loud. A sound level measurement carried out on site confirmed the controlling officer's suspicions. The Harley was seized and subjected to an inspection by a motor vehicle expert. The suspicion was confirmed and the significant increase in noise was documented. The operating license expired as a result. The result is a report with a fine notice. The 39-year-old also has to bear the expenses for the report, the towing costs and the administration fees.
A 44-year-old from Bielefeld was riding a 125cc motorcycle with a so-called insurance license plate mounted on it. This meant that it was not sufficiently insured and was traveling without a valid registration. During the check, the driver also stated that he did not have a valid driving license and that he had consumed drugs before starting the journey. The motorcycle was confiscated to prevent further journeys.
A 16-year-old from Rietberg in the Gütersloh district went for a ride on his father's moped. This was traveling at around 45 km/h. However, with his test certificate, the young man was only allowed to drive two-wheelers with a maximum speed of up to 25 km/h. He therefore did not have a license to drive the moped. His father allowed the trip and now both of them are facing criminal charges for driving without a license. The moped was also seized and checked by an official inspector.
The officers also recognized and punished a number of administrative offenses. These include, for example, failure to carry registration and driving authorization documents, seat belt violations and various other violations.
Speeding violations
Speed checks were also carried out at a primary school in the immediate vicinity of the checkpoint, at the fire station in Bielefeld Sennestadt. At the time of the inspection, 68 speeding violations were detected in the 30 km/h area.
In the highest speeding violation recorded, a driver doubled his speed in front of the school and drove past the radar car at 60 km/h. The catalog of fines includes, among other things, a driving ban.
