LEGO Group launches legendary cult motorcycle as a building set
Munich, July 9, 2019. What does Tagesschau chief anchor Jan Hofer have in common with Hollywood actors Kate Hudson and Brad Pitt? They share a passion for motorcycling and especially for two-wheelers from one of the most legendary motorcycle brands in the world, Harley-Davidson .
And soon Hofer, Hudson and Pitt could easily put a Harley-Davidson in their living room, because the LEGO Group is bringing one of the world's most famous motorcycles onto the market as a LEGO building set.
The LEGO Creator Expert Set Harley-Davidson® Fat Boy® transports the myth of freedom in a building set containing over 1,000 pieces and will be available in LEGO stores and online shops from August.
“It is the attention to detail that defines the design originality of our Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
“We pay special attention to every nut and bolt, every detail,” said Brad Richards, vice president of styling and design at Harley-Davidson.
“Working with the LEGO team, we were able to translate that same attention to detail into a LEGO building set , paying tribute to a brand that has inspired the imagination and creativity of many of us at Harley-Davidson, including myself, from a young age.”

LEGO Creator Expert Set Harley-Davidson ® Fat Boy is evident not only in the typical teardrop-shaped tank, the robust disc wheels and the speedometer in the tank console, but also in various movable elements.
This includes moving components such as handlebars, shift and brake levers as well as the rear tire and the Milwaukee-Eight ™ engine with movable pistons and two rear silencers arranged one above the other.
The detailed model of the motorcycle from Milwaukee also impresses with its authentic dark red and black color scheme with Harley-Davidson® logos.
“The LEGO Creator Expert Set Harley-Davidson® Fat Boy®,” said Mike Psiaki, designer at the LEGO Group, “captures the legendary design, advanced engineering and attention to detail of this motorcycle.”
Original large Fat Boy® made from LEGO elements is coming to Germany
Inspired by the collaboration with Harley-Davidson, the LEGO design team also created a 1:1 model of the Fat Boy® from LEGO elements - fully equipped with silver-plated components, Wi-Fi animation controls as well as sound and light effects - a faithful replica a Harley-Davidson® Fat Boy®.
Crafted in 865 hours of work, the extraordinary model consists of 69,569 LEGO elements and can be experienced live in selected LEGO stores.
The LEGO Creator Expert Harley-Davidson® Fat Boy® will be available from August 1, 2019 in all LEGO stores and online at shop.LEGO.com.
