Looking back on a Harley-Davidson decade
There was a lot to report on the Harley site in the last decade, come along on a journey through the last decade.
As a decade says goodbye, it's a good time to reflect on the 2010s. It's only been a decade in Harley-Davidson , but some new directions have been set that have realigned the company for the future.
Politics is increasingly influencing the development of Harley-Davidson in various forms. Whether it's Donald Trump , the punitive tariffs , the e-bike or the strict emissions regulations , which have demanded new engines across the board and have heralded the end of the Twin Cam , Revolution V-Rod and, from 2021, the Sportster Evolution engine.

2010 | Over for the Hamburg Harley Days
In January 2010, the first new news of 2010 hit like a bomb.
The Hamburg Senate rejected the Hamburg Harley Days And the reason could also be the same 10 years later: the city of Hamburg was named environmental capital in 2011 and in that case the event would not fit into the overall picture. But Harley-Davidson had fought, Bernhard Gneithing, the then Harley-Davidson Marketing Director, was able to save the event with everyone involved, over 40,000 signatures had made a difference.
2010 | Over for the Berlin Harley Days
The next big headline in April 2010 was “The end of the Berlin Harley Days”. Berlin is a cool location for a real Harley event, but the authorities didn't want it at the time, and the lack of support from the authorities ultimately led to the cancellation of the Berlin Harley Days .
The year before, a conspicuous police presence with selective body searches when entering the event site had already caused discontent. Around 150,000 visitors celebrated in the capital, unfortunately a massive rocker war had broken out in Berlin at the time. The event did not take place again, the requirements were simply too high.
2010 | Easy Rider legend Dennis Hopper is dead
In May 2010, Dennis Hopper died of cancer at the age of 74. Dennis Hopper owned the legendary Billy Bike, not to forget the Ledergut. “Born to be Wild”

2011 – There was also a big Harley party in Bavaria in 2011. The Munich Harley Festival also took place in 2012.
2011 – Harley-Davidson Academy of Motorcycling offers its first “ladies only” motorcycle training.
2012 | The Harley Weekend Lübeck is no longer taking place
The Harley Weekend Lübeck had a similar fate to the Berlin Harley Days. The major event could no longer meet the official requirements. The party took place throughout the city of Lübeck and Travemünde. Over 50 bands rocked across 8 stages and were surrounded by a fantastic old town backdrop.
Sportster Seventy-Two
In 2012, Harley-Davidson presented the Sportster Seventy-Two, which is reminiscent of the 70s. Its design was penned by Willy G. Davidson and Frank Savage. Particularly striking were the whitewall tires and the new big flake paintwork with retro pinstripes.
Harley-Davidson Germany headquarters
2012 - Relocation of the Harley-Davidson Germany headquarters
At the end of 2012, the Harley-Davidson Germany headquarters moved to its new location in Neu-Isenburg. Training, education and town hall meetings will also take place here in the future.

In 2013 the Hamburg Harley Days their 10th anniversary
The 110th Anniversary Party in Rome
In 2013, Harley-Davidson celebrates its 110th anniversary with a mega event in Rome. The celebrations took place in Rome for four days, the center of the event was in the port of Ostia right on the sea.
There was a bike show and live music at the Olympic Stadium and Pope Francis gave the blessing to the Harley fans in St. Peter's Square.

2013 – At the end of 2013, the Easyriders magazine repositioned itself in Europe. Times have generally become difficult for magazines, but nothing has changed to this day.
Harald Glööckler polarizes the Harley scene
2013 - In October 2013, Harald Glööckler presented the Glööckler custom bikes based on a Softail Deluxe and Dyna Switchback at a presentation in Berlin.
The two bikes underwent a spectacular metamorphosis. Golden seams, benches made of nubuck leather decorated with a Glööckler crown and countless rhinestones, they both unmistakably mutated into a Glööckler Harley.
The work was really good, but for the Harley community, a Harley with a lipstick holder was too much.
Punk really took off on Facebook, it was so bad that Facebook kicked the Harley site out of the stream for a year, then the Glööckler also linked the Harley site, and that was almost the end. Pure information can cause sleepless nights.
