Motorcycle festival: Numerous violations detected by tuning specialists – Mainhausen
Mainhausen: As part of a motorcycle festival held in Mainhausen over the weekend, police tuning specialists carried out targeted checks on Saturday with a focus on motorcycle road safety, identifying a number of violations.
After several participants' bikes had undergone significant technical modifications in the past, officials once again took a closer look at many of the high-end vehicles in a parking lot on Landesstraße 2310 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. During the inspections, which covered 46 motorcycles (mostly Harley-Davidson), two cars, and a quad bike, law enforcement officers had to impound 12 motorcycles and one of the cars, a Dodge Charger, because their operating licenses had expired due to illegal modifications and they will now be presented to an expert.
However, five other vehicles whose operating licenses had also expired were allowed to continue their journey. According to the police, the most common reason for the operating license expiring was the apparent unauthorized modification of the exhaust systems. The loudest vehicle was a Harley belonging to a 57-year-old man, whose machine registered 110 dBA on the measuring device instead of the permitted 95 dbA.
A total of ten defect notices were issued, which means that the defects identified must be rectified within a certain period of time and proof of proper condition must then be provided. Even though the owners' enthusiasm was clearly limited during the respective checks of their vehicles, the inspections showed that they are necessary and that the officials will therefore continue to pay attention to them in the future.
