Lienen – Motorcycle checks in Holperdorp
On Easter Monday (April 18), the traffic department of the Steinfurt district police carried out motorcycle checks on Holperdorper Straße in sunny spring weather. A laser speed measuring device and an unmarked video motorcycle were also used.
In addition to technical modifications, officials also found various defects on some motorcycles. The defects on five vehicles were so serious that the riders were prohibited from continuing their journey. On one Harley-Davidson, for example, the primary drive cover had been removed.
This must be closed under all circumstances due to the risk of injury. In addition to being prohibited from continuing their journey, drivers now face a fine, a penalty notice, and a point on their license in Flensburg. Motorcycles with tampered rear mufflers were also identified.
This has an impact on the noise levels produced by the motorcycles. These changes represent a significant noise nuisance for local residents. Two residents were given the opportunity to participate in the checks in order to engage in dialogue with the motorcyclists. A 27-year-old Dutchman was the sad leader in the speed checks.
He was clocked at 93 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. During the subsequent inspection, the officers discovered that the db killer in the rear silencer of the motorcycle was missing. The Dutchman had to pay a three-figure safety fine. A total of 18 reports were filed and 11 fines were issued during the inspections.
For many motorcyclists, the season has only just begun. That is why the Steinfurt district police authority will continue to carry out regular motorcycle checks throughout the district over the coming months. Always ride a motorcycle that is in perfect technical condition and roadworthy, and stick to the speed limits – for your own safety and that of all other road users.
