Cologne: A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on the federal highway 4 on Saturday night (August 27th). According to previous findings, he was traveling in the direction of Heerlen at around 12:20 a.m. when a Harley Davidson Golf (driver: 24) driving behind him in the same direction rear-ended.

As a result of the collision, the 35-year-old fell and ended up lying in the second passing lane. A following Toyota (driver: 53) is said to have run over the fallen man. Despite immediately initiated resuscitation measures, the Harley driver died at the scene of the accident. The two drivers and the passenger (49) of the Toyota driver suffered shock.

The police cordoned off the accident site between the Weisweiler and Eschweiler Ost junctions until early in the morning. The traffic accident investigation team secured the evidence on site. The emergency services also seized the cell phones of the two drivers as possible evidence. Traffic Commissioner 2 has taken over further investigations into the exact cause of the accident. (cr/kk)
