Motorcyclist dies after traffic accident on the BAB 4

Cologne: A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on the Bundesautobahn 4 highway on Saturday night (August 27). According to the information available so far, he was traveling in the direction of Heerlen at around midnight when a Golf (driver: 24) driving behind him in the same direction rear-ended the Harley Davidson.

The 35-year-old crashed as a result of the collision and came to rest on the second overtaking lane. A following Toyota (driver: 53) is then said to have rolled over the victim. Despite immediate resuscitation measures, the Harley rider died at the scene of the accident. The two car drivers and the passenger (49) of the Toyota driver suffered a shock.

The police cordoned off the accident site between the Weisweiler and Eschweiler Ost junctions until the early hours of the morning. The traffic accident investigation team secured the evidence at the scene. The emergency services also seized the cell phones of the two drivers as possible evidence. The traffic commissioner's office 2 has taken over the further investigation into the exact course of the accident. (cr/kk)
