New world record on the LiveWire
Far far away
Michel von Tell sets a new world record on the LiveWire :
1,723 kilometers in 24 hours
- One driver, four countries and one e-series bike on public roads
- Previous range record for electric motorcycles beaten by 406 kilometers
(Neu-Isenburg, March 25, 2020) How far can you go in 24 hours on an electrically powered motorcycle? The answer has just been redefined - by Michel von Tell, a Swiss cabaret artist, journalist, entrepreneur and - more importantly - Harley fan of the purest water. The 39-year-old former professional baseball player proved on March 11th and 12th, 2020 that he not only loves the classic “potatoe-potatoe” sound of the V-Twins, but also likes the spacey jet sound of the LiveWire. In the saddle of the first electric The passionate biker set a new record on a motorcycle powered by a mass-produced manufacturer: 1,723 kilometers in 24 hours.
The starting point of the motorcycle marathon was Zurich, from where man and machine set off towards Stuttgart with a full battery. The LiveWire's battery was recharged for the first time near the state capital of Baden-Württemberg before it went to Singen, the second fixed point of the record attempt. Here the battery charged again and from then on the man with the iron buttocks commuted back and forth on the A81 between Stuttgart and Singen six times until he extended the last leg south to arrive in Liechtenstein via Austria after 23 hours and 48 minutes and eight quick battery charges – with said 1,723 kilometers on the clock.
Von Tell makes it a point to state that the record was set by him alone and with a conventional production vehicle on public roads. Six witnesses, including a Swiss journalist, confirmed the facts.
The marathon man from Switzerland beat the previous world record by an impressive 406 kilometers. It was set up in 2018 on an electric motorcycle from a Californian manufacturer - with seven riders and on a closed test track. When Harley-Davidson found out about the campaign after the mega ride, they were very happy. The company warmly congratulates Michel von Tell on the new record.
