The dream of a large Harley-Davidson production facility in Berlin is over
That happened quickly, a week after the Berlin Partner economic development agency asked the Harley-Davidson headquarters in Wisconsin, the answer came promptly from Oxford, the current European headquarters for Harley-Davidson. According to Harley-Davidson, there are no plans to continue installing plants from scratch in other countries.
According to a report by FreiePresse, manager Jane Stevenson has rejected the whole thing. One can assume that other applicants will also have to expect a rejection; anything else would really be a surprise.
This means that Zschopau cannot continue the 100-year-old MZ-Werke tradition, which is certainly a shame for the region, but the race would have been exciting either way, because Austria and Villach also have a close connection to Harley-Davidson.
