JOAN PEDRERO SECURES A TOP-10 FINISH AT THE AFRICA ECO RACE 2025 ON THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON PAN AMERICA 1250
As the largest motorcycle in the rally, the Pan America 1250 once again demonstrated its capabilities
FRANKFURT (Jan. 16, 2025) - Harley-Davidson is proud of the exceptional performance of Joan Pedrero, who once again rode his Pan America 1250 in the Africa Eco Race from December 28, 2024 to January 12, 2025. With the H-D Adventure Touring Bike, the Spaniard won the multi-cylinder bike class with over 1,000 cubic centimeters. On the large, almost standard machine, he also secured an excellent eighth place out of a total of 78 starters in the motorcycle classification. Pedrero's success underlines the performance, robustness and versatility of the Pan America 1250.

The Africa Eco Race, a worthy successor to the Dakar Rally, is known as one of the toughest rallies in the world and leads the participants over around 5,900 km through challenging African terrain before they reach the finish line at the legendary Lac Rose near the Senegalese capital Dakar. Throughout the race, Pedrero remained among the top ten two-wheeled pros with remarkable consistency, demonstrating his skills and the performance of the Pan America 1250 day after day.
Although he was competing against significantly lighter and modified off-road machines, he and his Harley exceeded all expectations and impressively demonstrated what the largest motorcycle in the field is capable of even under the most demanding conditions. Pedrero's success follows on from the Harley-Davidson debut at the Africa Eco Race in 2024, where he also won a title in the over 1,000 cm3 category on the same machine.

By redefining the boundaries of a large-volume adventure touring bike, the Pan America 1250 not only cemented its reputation as a competitor, but also as a pioneer in the segment. What makes the performance of Pedrero's machine even more remarkable was its near-stock condition. She competed for the second time with only minimal modifications, such as a slight change to the radiator. Pedrero's bike is powered by the standard liquid-cooled 1,250 cc V-twin and has the same set-up as the machines available to riders all over the world.
„At Harley-Davidson, we pride ourselves on offering our customers motorcycles that are made for real adventure, and the Pan America 1250 is the ultimate expression of this attitude,“ emphasizes Kolja Rebstock, Harley-Davidson Regional Vice President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. „Again, I was impressed by the incredible result of Joan Pedrero. He achieved it on an almost stock bike, which was also the biggest bike in the race. With this level of performance, reliability and resilience, our Pan America 1250 is simply in a class of its own.“
The rough terrain of the Africa Eco Race, with rocky trails, extensive dunes and rugged desert landscapes, presented the participants with relentless challenges. For Pedrero and his Pan America 1250, it was another opportunity to prove the bike's relentless character and good handling under grueling conditions and to further consolidate its top position in the Adventure Touring segment.
