Targeted traffic controls on the so-called “Müllermilchkurve” – Velbert
Police – Mettmann:
On Sunday (May 22, 2022), the Mettmann district police authority carried out targeted and previously unannounced traffic controls on and in the area around the so-called “Müllermilchkurve” on Kuhlendahler Straße in Velbert. Numerous speeding and other violations were identified.
These are the results:
During the inspection period between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the late afternoon, the police found technical defects in the machines of a total of 16 motorcyclists at the Müllermilchkurve. Among those checked was a 51-year-old driver of a Harley-Davidson whose general inspection had been over for over a year. A 33-year-old from Duisburg also “came into the police net,” whose Yamaha the traffic experts could already hear before the machine was in sight.
During the subsequent inspection, it turned out that the man had improperly removed the so-called “dB absorber” - and had also removed the rear indicators of his machine. An 18-year-old KTM rider also came from Duisburg, whose front tire had a tread depth of 0.9mm. The consequences for the trio: They all had to pay some high fines, and everyone also got a point in Flensburg. In total, the police found technical defects on 16 motorcycles checked.
In addition to checking the technical characteristics of the motorcycles, the police also paid attention to maintaining speeds - although this was more the case around the Müllermilch curve. A total of 102 speeding offenses had to be punished here - 14 of which were committed by motorcyclists.
However, the infamous “fastest of the day” was a 27-year-old man from Mülheim an der Ruhr who raced along the Ruhrstrasse in his Audi RS3 at significantly excessive speed. Instead of the permitted 50 km/h, the young man was clocked at 93 kilometers per hour, which, after deducting the tolerances, meant exceeding the speed limit by 39 km/h. The consequences for the Mülheimer: 200 euros and one point in Flensburg.
In addition, the police had to punish several other violations as part of their traffic surveillance: Some drivers were not wearing a seatbelt, were using their cell phones while driving or ignored the red light that was valid for them.
The police make it clear:
In addition to the locations of the speed measuring points announced in advance, the police will continue to regularly monitor speeds and traffic in general at locations that have not been announced in advance in order to increase the safety of road users.
