POLO applies for restructuring proceedings – business operations continue

• Self-administration proceedings applied for at Mönchengladbach Local Court
• Business continuity and employee wages and salaries are secured through January 2026.
• POLO locations and companies in Switzerland and Austria remain unaffected by the proceedings for the time being.

Jüchen, November 18, 2025. POLO Motorrad und Sportswear GmbH filed for self-administration proceedings at the Mönchengladbach District Court yesterday. The aim is to continue business operations in an orderly manner under the protection of insolvency law and to restructure the company. 

Operations are continuing as normal at the Jüchen site and in all stores during the preliminary proceedings. The wages and salaries of the approximately 700 employees in Germany are also secured through insolvency payments until January 2026. Employees were informed personally today about the start of proceedings.

The background to the proceedings is the current tense macroeconomic situation: despite good sales performance this year, the industry-wide reluctance of many customers to make purchases is putting increased pressure on liquidity.

Andrew Thorndike, CEO of POLO Motorrad und Sportswear GmbH, says: „The application is the right step to secure our future viability: POLO has already restructured itself significantly in recent years through its own efforts. We have significantly expanded our brand power on the customer side and are now even stronger in the business with our own brands. However, we have recognized that without the additional support of the court proceedings, we will not be able to reduce our company's debt in the long term and make it more independent. One thing is clear: POLO remains a strong partner in the market, and we will take all necessary steps to secure its future.“
