Mönchengladbach Local Court opens proceedings - stores, online store and jobs remain secure
Self-administration proceedings for POLO Motorrad & Sportswear GmbH opened as planned

Jüchen, February 3, 2026. On February 1, 2026, the Local Court of Mönchengladbach opened self-administration proceedings for POLO Motorrad & Sportswear GmbH as planned. Following the conclusion of the provisional phase, the company is thus implementing the next legally required step in the proceedings.
Business operations continue to run without restrictions. All stores and the online store are open and operating as usual. The wages and salaries of around 650 employees in Germany are also secured and will be paid from ongoing business operations again from February 1, 2026.
Andrew Thorndike, CEO of POLO Motorrad & Sportswear GmbH, explains: „We have been working for some time on the structural realignment of POLO in order to make our company economically stable and competitive in the long term. We launched this transformation process two years ago with the ‚Northstar‘ initiative and have clearly underpinned it strategically. Today, we can see very clearly that the measures are taking effect: Operations are stable, development is right, and we have a resilient basis for consistently implementing the next steps in the process.“
POLO is being supported by a team led by restructuring expert Prof. Dr. Volker Römermann, lawyer and CEO of Römermann Rechtsanwälte AG. Lawyer Rainer Frölich (AHW Insolvenzverwaltung) is also supporting the proceedings as the court-appointed administrator.

The chosen course remains unchanged: POLO stabilizes the business, aligns the organization sustainably and creates the conditions for a sustainable economic perspective. An essential part of the process is the legally required investor process. POLO is systematically examining and evaluating various continuation and solution scenarios as part of this process and is currently holding in-depth talks with potential partners. The aim is to find a resilient solution in the interests of both employees and customers.
