THE PROJECT LIVEWIRE™ EXPERIENCE TOUR STOPPED IN GERMANY

German motorcycle enthusiasts are helping to shape the future of Harley-Davidson's first electric motorcycle.

Oxford (July 22, 2015) – On July 16, German journalists were given their first opportunity to form their own opinion of the Project LiveWire™, one day later it was the turn of German dealers, and on July 18 and 19, Harley-Davidson gave motorcycle fans who had previously applied online the opportunity to test Project LiveWire bikes: The first electrically powered Harley-Davidson® was presented on the service roads of the Hockenheimring, and around 300 drivers took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy this special experience over the four days.

Harley-Davidson deliberately calls the LiveWire prototypes „Project“ because these machines are not intended for sale. The Motor Company wants to use them to find out what people around the globe think of an electrically powered Harley-Davidson expect. This is entirely in line with the philosophy of the US company, which always listens to its customers' ideas – especially when it comes to developing new vehicles. That's why all German test drivers were asked to provide feedback after their drive., Harley-Davidson share their impressions.

Meanwhile, around 50 participants were able to experience the astonishingly realistic LiveWire feeling on the driving simulator without a motorcycle license. jump start™. In addition, a fleet of gasoline-powered Harleys was available for test rides around the Hockenheimring.

„We are proud that the Project LiveWire Experience Tour 2015 “We are delighted that the e-bike tour has made a stop in Germany and has been so well received,„ says Frank Klumpp, Marketing Director at Harley-Davidson Germany GmbH. “This event has provided our company with a wealth of input that will help shape the future of electric drive at Harley-Davidson."

And what do the test riders say? „An absolutely awesome machine... I'm completely thrilled,“ said Michael B., who traveled all the way from Thuringia to test the LiveWire. „Top notch. Unique. Innovative!“ said Arno B. „It's really fun to ride. A superb machine – flawless,“ said Matthias E., rider of a Ultra Limited and one Heritage Softail Classic®, who also thought it was great that Harley-Davidson was considering „whether to continue working with combustion engines in the future, or whether this is an alternative to them.“
