Punitive tariffs on Harley-Davidson motorcycles – real problems look different.
At Harley-Davidson headquarters, people react with incomprehension to the planned punitive tariffs. Harley-Davidson is one of the companies that is punished twice for importing suitable raw materials. Ultimately, there is a huge fuss made about the companies, but if we look at Levis or the chosen whiskey producer, the whole thing probably has less to do with a big blow.
The Levis jeans now come from Bangladesh, only a few people are affected by whiskey, only Harley-Davidson is on a cost-cutting plan and can't use such news, but who ultimately pays the punitive tariff? It will be the European who wants his Harley.
HARLEY-DAVIDSON PUNITIVE COLLECTION IS UNJUST
Compared to the EU's export hits, which is what we're actually talking about, the wrong people are probably being hit here. The auto industry continues to diligently make its profits and the relatively smaller companies and the sovereign are taking advantage of it.
What does it mean for the Harley-Davidson customer now?
We don't know that exactly yet, at the moment there is a lot of searching for solutions. Normally the EU would have to compensate for the additional costs for those affected, but ultimately they are not the ones who caused it. Why do you want to punish entire company structures in Europe if they are run by Europeans?
Otherwise, the Harley-Davidson customer will probably have to fork over a few hundred more, but you can assume that someone who wants to buy a Harley-Davidson will buy it anyway.
The dealers' actual problems lie somewhere completely different; there has been a lack of real skilled workers for years. Regardless of the area, well-trained staff are few and far between. It is up to politicians to finally ensure planning security again, whether it is about family planning or good school education.
Children cost money and without a good education nothing works; there are a lot of things going wrong in schools. Young people lack the aptitude or simply the desire to achieve something in life.
Not everyone can become a rapper, those are the real problems, the punitive tariffs can still be calculated, maybe Trump is just right, low wage policies our exports for years, what good is it for citizens if they can no longer plan, perhaps just think again.
If you're still considering whether to buy something new, you should probably put a little pressure on yourself; you can still save a few bills.
