280,000โฌ for people with muscle disease: A look back at the 27th HARLEY-DAVIDSONยฎ CHARITY TOUR
Vienna, August 26, 2024 - From August 14 to 18, the Harley-Davidsonยฎ Charity Tour (HDCT) toured Austria for the 27th time to collect donations for people with muscle disease. After the tour, impressive proceeds of around โฌ280,000 were raised, which were used to finance therapies, aids, car conversions, etc. - also in cooperation with the Licht ins Dunkel emergency aid fund. We look back.
On August 14, the 27th HDCT kicked off in Vienna with a breakfast for the bikers at the sponsor's premises. Siblik electrics. The tour was then refreshed at the Simmering shopping center and long-standing partner huma eleven by presenter and Radio Wien DJ Alex List and numerous prominent supporters of the tour.
Also present were founder KR Ferdinand O. Fischer, Barbara Wussow, Christoph Fรคlbl, Tony Rei, director Danny Bellens, district manager Thomas Steinhart, Stefan Koubek as well as barbecue world champion Adi Bittermann and actor Albert Fortell, who both accompanied the entire tour as drivers.
The first donation checks were handed over and together with over 200 bikers, the tour continued to Wiener Neustadt to BILLA PLUS, where Alexander Tromet hosted the event and accepted the donation checks. The tour then moved on to the Mellach district heating plant, where a warm welcome was given and a generous donation check from VERBUND was presented, accompanied by music from Adi Pfeil and delicious food. We continued to Bad Radkersburg, where the first day of the tour ended with an exuberant party at the Hasenhaide with presenter Dorian Steidl and the band Smashtime was organized to collect donations.
Traditional and new HDCT stations
On August 15, almost 300 bikers rode to the traditional tour stop in Kรถflach where the Krampus Association barbecued for bikers and visitors and Dorian Steidl once again whetted the appetite for donations. For coffee, the entourage set off for a new destination, the Koralpe. Winding mountain roads, a fantastic panorama and a gratifying donation cheque put everyone in a good mood. And so the HDCT then moved on with almost 400 bikers in the sunshine over the Sรถlkpass to the last venue of the day: Schladming. At the Schladming-Dachstein Nights on the main square, presenter Harry Prรผnster was able to collect donations in Ennstal.
The first city in which many guests were already waiting for the Harleys to arrive at the main square on August 16 was Gmรผnd in Carinthia. A vocal performance by Harry Prรผnster and many donations from local companies were met with great applause, as was the case at the next stop on the main square in Lienz, where the HDCT is always welcome. Jeni Willams and Mayor Elisabeth Blanik presented the donations from East Tyrol.
Driving pleasure for a good cause
This was followed by a drive over the Felbertauern, between imposing mountain massifs on winding roads to Sankt Johann in Tirol, where the HDCT, after a parade through the town, headed to the โLegends on Wheelsโ came. The St. Johann brass band played a varied repertoire and the evening ended with music from bands on various stages.
The HDCT set off from St. Johann on August 17 for the first time on the Poured over alp stop on the Hochkรถnig. The idyllic journey was crowned by a fantastic view, zither playing and a donation cheque. The tour then continued on its way to Attnang-Puchheim where the Rathausplatz was filled with the hot irons, which were marveled at extensively while the donations were handed over by Mayor Peter Groiร and others. In high spirits, the entourage set off for the next destination.
Harley meets Vespa
The HDCT next made its debut in Obernberg am Inn stop, where a collection for muscle patients is organized all year round and numerous cheques were received. The tour then merged with many Vespas from the โRieder Vespen-Schwarmsโ and finally led to the packed main square in Ried im Innkreis with around 400 two-wheelers. Rocking the stage DEMIAN for over a thousand visitors. The last evening event of the charity tour traditionally turned into a big party at which numerous additional donations were received.
The best comes at the end
On the last day, the tour continued from Ried to Linz, where the Vespa-accompanied tour once again stopped at the Urfahraner Marktgelรคnde. Linz KRONE Festival and where Die Edlseer provided the atmosphere.
Deputy Mayor Martin Hajart and Linz AG saw the Harley riders off with donation cheques in the direction of Krems for the final collection of a donation at the Hofbrรคuhaus at the Steinertor, where President Dieter Baier thanked the numerous sponsors and the many volunteers, especially Toni Aichenauer, himself affected by a muscle disease, who collected an incredible โฌ37,000 in donations with his Toni Tour this year.
After counting all the donations, the Harley-Davidsonยฎ Charity Tour for the year 2024 will generate donations of around 280.000โฌ could achieve.
Within the framework of the European Bike Week Further donations will be collected in September and the charity year will end in November with the traditional HDCT Gala on 16.11.24 in Vienna in a grand finale, where this year's total amount of donations will be announced in a festive setting.
