Highly abrasion-resistant, single-layer and still waterproof. The combination of the best Portuguese denim, schoeller®-dynatec and _change® membrane makes this possible. Thanks to sealed seams and a waterproof zipper, the Revolution is also wind-repellent and therefore prevents you from cooling down during longer trips.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WATERPROOF AND WATERPROOF?
Waterproof, water-repellent and waterproof are three common adjectives used to describe motorcycle pants. But what exactly is the difference? Waterproof means that the material is so dense that water does not pass through. Here you stay dry, no matter how long you spend outside in the rain.
With truly waterproof trousers, only the surface gets soaked. On the inside, however, you stay permanently dry thanks to the built-in c_change® membrane. Water-repellent, on the other hand, sometimes also called waterproof, only means that the water rolls off the surface. However, if it rains continuously or in heavy rain, over time it is unavoidable that water will seep in through your trousers.
WHEN IS WATERPROOF WATERPROOF?
The hydrostatic water column refers to the height of a theoretical column of water that presses on a tissue surface and is given in millimeters. The water column indicates the water pressure the outer material of motorcycle pants can withstand before water penetrates. The information indicates the pressure that exists when the first drops penetrate the tissue. It marks the load limit above which a textile becomes permeable.
1,000 millimeters of water pressure corresponds to a pressure of 0.1 bar. According to the Federal Materials Testing and Research Institute (EMPA) in St. Gallen, fabrics with a water column of 4000 millimeters or more are considered tight. The Revolution leans from ROKKER even achieved a water column of up to 20,000 millimeters in this test.
