In Sturgis, everything is on GO

President and founder Rod “Woody” Woodruff of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip has announced that the Sturgis Rally will take place. The state of South Dakota has placed some requirements, but the event will take place. The organizer, Woody, will do everything necessary to ensure safety for everyone involved.

More washing facilities will be created and there will be some additional rules to follow. The main focus should be on driving, partying a little less and driving the Harley around more to explore the beautiful area.

The area is large enough to maintain larger distances.

But what this means for us Germans is unclear, and it is not yet possible to really predict when flights will start again. These days Lufthansa announced that it will fly up to 17 Airbus A340-600 aircraft to the north-east of Spain in order to put them out of service for the next 1 1/2 years. Lufthansa does not appear to be expecting particularly rosy times for the future.

And the next question is whether you actually want that, because the situation in the USA doesn't necessarily look any better. It is certainly a real problem, especially for tour operators, concrete statements can be difficult to make, group sizes suddenly decrease, some want to cancel, but the organizer has booked and, as a rule, there is always a lot of money involved with tours in the USA.

Woody assumes that the virus will no longer exist in late summer due to the high temperatures. His word in God's ear, in any case everything will continue to be planned as before.

I can't enter the country, what happens to my cards?

If you still can't enter the USA in August, or if you don't want to because of your own concerns, you have the option of transferring the cards you've already purchased from Buffalo Chip to someone else. It's possible until July 1, 2020 if you can find one. Then call the service number +1 (605)347-9000, where the card can be transferred to the new card owner.

In Sturgis people seem to be unaffected by the pandemic, there is still some time, in any case they are sticking to a high-quality music program, there may be changes, but the party will continue despite some safety measures, says Woddy.

Bikini Beach Sturgis

Bikini Beach will be open for partying as usual. This is where people meet to chill, soak up the sun, listen to music and watch the legendary competitions. Fishing is permitted, but no fish and not with hooks. Otherwise the plan is to let it run as usual.

We have to see whether Woody is right and the coronavirus has no chance of survival at high temperatures. If another plane goes over the pond, maybe something could happen.
