Everything is on GO in Sturgis
President and founder Rod „Woody“ Woodruff of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip has announced that the Sturgis Rally is to take place. The state of South Dakota has imposed some restrictions, but the event will go ahead. The organizer, Woody, will do everything possible to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
More washing facilities will be created and there will be some additional rules that must be followed. The main focus will be on riding, a little less partying and more Harley through the area to explore the beautiful surroundings.
The site is large enough to maintain larger distances.
But what this means for us Germans is unclear, and it is not yet clear when flights will resume. These days Lufthansa announced that they will fly up to 17 Airbus A340-600 aircraft to the northeast of Spain in order to take them out of service for the next 1 1/2 years. Apparently Lufthansa is not expecting particularly rosy times in the future.
And the next question is whether you want to do this at all, because the situation in the USA is not necessarily any better. It is certainly a real problem for tour operators in particular, it is difficult to make concrete statements, the group sizes suddenly decrease, some want to cancel, but the organizer has booked and, as a rule, there is always a lot of money involved in USA tours.
Woody assumes that the virus will no longer exist in late summer due to the high temperatures. His word to God, at least everything will continue to be planned as before.
I can't enter the country, what happens to my cards?.
If you are still unable to enter the USA in August, or if you do not wish to do so for your own reasons, you can transfer the cards you have already purchased from the Buffalo Chip to someone else. Until July 1st 2020 it is possible, if you can find one. Then at the Service Call +1 (605)347-9000, where the card can be transferred to the new cardholder.
In Sturgis, they seem unimpressed by the pandemic, there is still some time left, at least they are sticking to a high-quality music program, there may be changes, but the party will go ahead despite some safety measures, says Woddy.
Bikini Beach Sturgis
Bikini Beach will be open for partying as usual. This is where people meet to chill out, soak up the sun, listen to music and take part in the legendary competitions. Fishing is allowed, but no fish and no hooks. Otherwise, it is planned to run as usual.
We'll have to see if Woody is right and the coronavirus has no chance of surviving at high temperatures. If a plane then crosses the pond, it might be something.
