THE STVO AMENDMENT 2020 - WHAT'S NEW AND THE CRITICISM
- New catalog of fines
- Speed camera APP ban
- New traffic signs
- New rules, higher penalties
- Nothing positive for motorcyclists
TWO-WHEELER RIDERS YES! MOTORCYCLISTS NO!
Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer is once again under heavy criticism
It is not only because of the Toll Disaster and the Consultant affair is very controversial, that much is clear. In February, the Federal Council, the new StVO amendment 2020 agreed. We probably mainly remember the controversial Speed limit on the highways, which has been widely reported in the press. It has been rejected in favor of our freedom, not everyone has to agree with that, but it is generally known that we don't like being controlled and restricted in any way.
In the shadow of the speed limit discussion came the StVO amendment.
In the whole discussion about the speed limit, some important changes to the StVO have been completely lost sight of, for example the penalties for speeding and how quickly you have to surrender your driver's license if you have been speeding and have been flashed. You could say that this only affects those who are speeding, but what does speeding mean and on what basis is it even decided? Who says that 50 km/h on a four-lane road in a town is the optimum speed and makes traffic particularly safe?.
Measures against the flow of traffic
In any case, this does not ensure a good flow of traffic, which could be solved much better technically today if traffic lights were switched intelligently and the priority was to ensure that traffic leaves the city quickly and does not stand still, which would be a big gain. Commuter traffic could be controlled intelligently with variable lanes, commuters drive into the city in the morning and out again in the afternoon, it's always been like this, but no one really manages it sensibly.
The state is urging us to use bicycles, buses or electric cars
This sometimes happens at major construction sites, which would generally be a good solution. Instead, they want us to cycle, take the bus or drive an electric car. And they're trying to enforce this on a massive scale. Surely the stricter penalties don't bother anyone who only drives sporadically, but everyone who depends on their vehicle and driving license for work is already struggling more and more every year, against the time and rising costs.

Vehicles are becoming increasingly intelligent and safe
All modern vehicles are increasingly safe, with various assistance systems taking over from the driver, even with the new Harley-Davidson Tourer Generation the latest Security features how the RDRS system now being used in the 2020 models.
The new amendment is intended to make traffic even safer, although it has always been safer on our roads. Our highways in particular are safe, at most the Condition gives you food for thought. At the same time, the number of road deaths continues to fall; according to the Federal Office, 6.6 percent fewer people died on German freeways in 2019. Of course, every one is one too many, but does it justify enforcing such a stricter amendment that you have to surrender your driver's license if you drive 21 km/h or 26 km/h too fast?

Resistance across a wide area
There is now broad-based resistance, which ADAC has spoken out and believes that the new StVO overshoots the mark. They miss the differentiation in the offenses. Anyone caught speeding in urban areas at 21 km/h or more will receive 1 point, a fine of 60 euros and a driving ban of 1 month, while anyone caught speeding at 31 km/h or more will receive 2 points and a driving ban of 1 month. It makes no difference whether it happens in front of a kindergarten or on a well-developed bypass road in the local area.
The points system was only tightened in 2014
The new tightening also upsets the balance with the points system, which has been changed since 2014. Originally, the Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer for intelligent solutions that regulate traffic according to the situation, they obviously don't really know yet where they want to get the intelligence from.
„The death penalty does not prevent murder!“
Harsh penalties don't really achieve anything; instead of concentrating on the green wave, shortened construction site times with night work, intelligent traffic management and speedy driving, we get tangled up in harsher penalties and driving bans.
New regulations for two-wheelers
For two-wheelers in particular, there are some innovations that are intended to ensure greater safety, or let's put it this way, not for everyone Two-wheeler rider, because Motorcyclist have been forgotten again. We are still not allowed to drive through the middle of freeways and still have to live with road closures. In this case, one wonders how it can be at all that motorcyclists are not allowed to drive in some city centers despite vehicles being approved for traffic and that motorcyclists are locked out on more and more routes, ultimately motorcyclists also pay the motor vehicle tax.
More distance when overtaking
In future, you must ensure that you keep a greater minimum distance when overtaking two-wheelers. In most cases, this means that overtaking is difficult when there is oncoming traffic. But well, cyclists should also have their space, they don't pay vehicle tax, but everyone should be able to participate safely in traffic as they wish.

A new traffic sign
What is the new traffic sign supposed to achieve? First and foremost, it is called "safety", but what it will definitely bring is: STAU! That is as sure as the Amen in the church, now cyclists will also be prioritized on the road.

And only because the state has failed to plan a safe cycle path for bicycles. Of course cyclists have a right to consideration, but that has already been established anyway.
Roads were built for motor traffic, It's as simple as that, he pays the vehicle tax. Artificially created traffic jams are really not good for the environment and only delay the flow of traffic.

Green arrow for cyclists
Multi-occupancy passenger cars
Cycle highway
Cargo bike
eKFZ
Cyclists now have their own green arrow for turning off, their own bicycle zones for parking and even new cycle highways.

There is now a general ban on stopping on cycle lanes. We are currently developing into a # cycling country, that wouldn't be so bad and everyone is welcome to do as they please, it just doesn't fit that on the other hand, everything that has to do with conventional combustion engines is basically to be cut off. This is a total encroachment on our basic personal rights, which are not only available to cyclists!

BLITZER APPS are no longer permitted while driving
With the introduction of the new StVO amendment, the situation is now clearly defined, Speed camera apps on Smartphones, or in Navigation systems are allowed during the journey not may no longer be used. Anyone who does not comply will in future pay 75 euros and collect a point in Flensburg. Collecting points is now easier than with Payback, you might think ironically.
Possible loopholes when using the speed camera app
Before the trip, you can find out about the Speed camera APP The radio announcements will also continue to be made. If there is a passenger in the vehicle, he could run this app, which would be second-hand information, similar to the radio, and in this case the situation would be different.
For motorcyclists, it would also only work via the passenger, or you inform yourself beforehand. The speed camera app in the smartphone can send the warning via Bluetooth directly to the passenger's radio helmet set, which can inform you. So far, the state has not yet targeted the co-driver, so proving this is very problematic. The best thing, of course, is that everyone abides by the existing rules.
PURCHASED SPEED CAMERA APP IS RANKED AMONG THE TOP 5 IN THE APP STORE
It is not yet clear how the use of the app can be proven if the driver has not been caught in the act. Consider that the purchased version of the speed camera app was in the top 5 purchased APPS last year. So they are very widespread, and the question immediately arises as to whether these laws are really in the name of the people when a Speed camera APP is so successful.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR MOTORCYCLISTS?
Motorcyclists are still not allowed to drive in the emergency lane
Anyone who violates the right-hand driving rule on the highway must expect to pay €100 and have their driver's license suspended for a month. That would be the case if we were to drive past the stationary vehicles on the highway. We would be allowed to do so on the left, but there are cars in the way. Rescue lane on the far left would be.

We continue to be boiled on our motorcycles, especially in summer traffic jams, because walking around on the highway is not allowed. We simply have no Lobby, although we could have them, because it concerns Cross-brand each Motorcyclist and ultimately also the manufacturers. The manufacturers have their own associations that can become active.
CRASH BARRIERS CAN MAIM AND EVEN KILL MOTORCYCLISTS
It sounds a bit harsh, but that's exactly how it is! The crash barriers generally don't have any underride protection here, and they often pose a real additional danger to the life and limb of motorcyclists in the event of an accident, especially on bends.
You have to ask yourself why this is even permitted when you otherwise have to prove operational safety for everything. Just imagine if the trailer of a truck had no underride guard, it wouldn't be approved at all. In the case of crash barriers, however, this is possible - strange, but that's exactly how it is!
But if the license plate is at an angle of more than 31 degrees, or the motorcycle is a little too loud, they will immediately shut you down. There is no doubt that crash barriers provide protection in the event of a collision with a car, but they are extremely dangerous for motorcyclists without additional protection. They have already been responsible for various maimings and fatal injuries.
MoreSi fights for the road safety of motorcyclists
The association MoreSi has been fighting tirelessly for years for underride protection, or bumpers on crash barriers. You can even report accident blackspots there if you know of particularly dangerous stretches of road without protection for motorcyclists. The association is financed by donations, you can MoreSi We would be happy to consider a donation if you would like to do something good.
BITUMEN FLICKING ON OUR ROADS
They are so life-threatening in the rain, it's basically the same as with crash barriers. Bitumen patches on our roads should not be allowed at all, I myself got into a very dangerous situation on the highway in the rain at 80 km/h through a long bitumen patch, where the high-torque V2 engine of the Harley suddenly had no more grip and broke out on the bitumen strip, fortunately I was still able to catch it.
The fact that some of the roads and bridges are in a catastrophic state is not news, unfortunately the holes in the roads are often only filled with this liquid bitumen and when it rains they do not give any grip to the tires and become a real danger to life for motorcyclists. But our responsible politicians still don't really seem to be interested in this either.
At least when it comes to the StVO amendment, resistance is forming in the form of petitions and comments. Here is a list of what you can read on the Internet and where you can get involved in the form of a petition!

Why do you assume that cyclists don't pay vehicle tax across the board? Furthermore, police vehicles don't pay road tax either, should they also be taken off the road? Roads are not built for motor vehicle traffic either, because roads have been around much longer than motor vehicles.
Compare the tax revenue from motor vehicles with the costs of renovating the roads. It is paid for by everyone because the infrastructure is destroyed by motor vehicles.
And a little too loud and a little too fast is shit for the rest.
What a one-sided car report. It's not just about motorized vehicle traffic. Pedestrians and cyclists also want to get around. And residents of a city don't want to suffer from traffic either. PS. If you stick to the rules, you have nothing to fear. PPS and 21 km/h can mean the difference between life and death.
