SERIAL 1 SWITCH/MTN: Enjoy every trail 

Add variety to your daily journeys with the SWITCH/MTN, the newest member of the Serial 1 family in the category of electric mountain bikes. The SWITCH/MTN has been designed from the ground up with the same care and attention to detail that Serial 1 is known for. It was developed for active adventurers who are looking for a versatile and playful way to move off-road.

The SWITCH/MTN is extremely capable off-road and has the necessary performance to make even experienced riders happy. At the same time, the excellent riding position and attention to detail of our latest E-MTB also make it suitable for riders who are just gaining their first off-road experience. 

The SWITCH/MTN is based on the same basic design as the renowned /CTY wheels from Serial 1 and uses the same center-mounted Brose S Mag motor and the proprietary, super-compact battery system to optimally concentrate the weight in the middle and facilitate handling. The SWITCH/MTN is equipped with an all-terrain geometry and a variety of trail-ready technologies to ensure an exceptionally confident ride. Off-road machine to receive.

The first-class, fully adjustable SR Suntour ZERON35 BOOST AIR suspension fork absorbs big impacts and small bumps in equal measure, while grippy, high-volume Michelin E-Wild studded tires provide excellent traction. With the help of the TranzX seatpost, the saddle height can be infinitely adjusted so that users of the SWITCH/MTN can enjoy the same level of comfort and confidence in all riding situations.

The drive components come from SRAM's SX Eagle range, including the 1×12 gear combination, which is operated with e-bike-specific one-click trigger shifters to provide the perfect gear ratio for any terrain if required. The brakes are also state of the art.

The hydraulic TRP Slate T4 disc brakes have also been specially developed for E-MTB use. Powerful four-piston brake callipers grip oversized brake discs with a diameter of 203 mm and a thickness of 2.3 mm, which offer fade-free braking performance even on very long and fast descents.

All these trail-ready technologies are great, but what really sets the SWITCH/MTN apart in the E-MTB sector is the added comfort and practicality, which is not a given in this category.

Fully integrated LED lighting - including our proprietary BAF (Bright As F***) headlight and highly visible RAT (Rearward Awareness Technology) tail and brake lights - enhances both safety and usability.

In addition, like all 2022 Serial 1 e-bikes, the SWITCH/MTN features cloud-enabled connectivity via the Serial 1 app, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud to capture key riding data, enhance safety, and make it easier than ever to enjoy every trail.

SERIAL 1 SWITCH/MTN KEY FEATURES & TECHNOLOGY

All Serial 1 e-bikes are developed in a dedicated production facility on the Harley-Davidson® campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, using the same principles and processes that apply to the development of electric motorcycles.

The concentration of mass is the key to safe handling and excellent vehicle dynamics, which is why Serial 1 has placed great emphasis on a very low center of gravity in the development of the E-MTBs to ensure agile and predictable handling in all riding situations, especially off-road.

All Serial 1 e-bikes are sleek and streamlined, and the SWITCH/MTN is in no way inferior. All cables and wires are hidden in the frame, the lighting is integrated front and rear, and the smooth, clean contours convey the same great style that customers have come to expect from Serial 1.

Aluminum frame

The frame is made of welded, hydroformed aluminum, which is light and strong, with a geometry designed for performance:

Suspension fork

SR Suntour's premium ZERON35 BOOST AIR suspension fork is specifically tuned to handle the extra weight and speed of a high-performance eMTB and can handle any situation you throw at it. The ZERON35 BOOST AIR is based on a robust chassis with a forged crown, 35 mm aluminum stanchions, magnesium dip tubes and a sealed high-performance cartridge that offers 120 mm of travel.

It is designed to offer a smooth ride, razor-sharp handling and unshakeable durability. With the easy-to-adjust air spring and click-adjustable rebound and compression damping, you can quickly and safely fine-tune the suspension characteristics to suit your weight, riding style and preferred terrain.

Integrated Battery

Manufactured to automotive industry specifications to ensure reliable operation in all conditions - even aggressive off-road riding - the compact and highly durable 529 Wh lithium-ion battery is integrated into the frame, giving the bike an attractive overall appearance and a lower center of gravity compared to other e-bikes. It is easily removable for separate charging, but can also be charged on the bike via a charging port on the lower left side of the frame.

Mid-engine

The mid-mounted Brose S Mag motor generates 90Nm/66 ft. lb. of torque, providing enough assistance to enable a quick start from a standing start and enable the rider to conquer even the most challenging terrain.

An electronic torque sensor automatically registers the pressure that the rider exerts on the pedals and immediately provides the corresponding electric assistance. There is neither a throttle nor a clutch - simply step on the pedals and ride off.

Four driving modes: 

• Eco mode for gentle support in flat and comfortable conditions.
• Tour mode for the optimum mix of support and battery economy in different riding conditions.
• Sport mode for pronounced support in bends or on inclines.
• Boost mode for tackling steep climbs, strong headwinds or other conditions that require continuous support.

Walking aid

A „walking aid“ function is available at the touch of a button on the handlebar controls and provides a slight forward movement to maneuver the e-bike on foot with ease, especially when it needs to be pushed up a hill.

Controls on the handlebars

With the ergonomically positioned Brose remote handlebar control, the rider can switch the SWITCH/MTN E-MTB on and off, switch between riding modes, switch the integrated headlight on and off and activate the walking aid - all without having to take one hand off the handlebars.

SRAM SX Eagle 1×12 drivetrain technology is designed to be lighter, simpler, more durable and easier to use. The 11-50 cassette offers an increased gear range of 520 % to find exactly the right gear for every situation, whether you're tackling a long descent or climbing a steep ledge. The SX Eagle Trigger shifter puts you in control.

The E-MTB-specific one-click shifting system ensures even more precise shifting and increased durability. The SX Eagle rear derailleur with X-SYNC pulley technology and straight parallelogram design ensures crisp gear changes as well as quiet and efficient shifting across the entire cassette.

Hydraulic disc brakes

The TRP Slate T4 hydraulic disc brakes have been specially developed for E-MTB use to deliver the most reliable braking performance even in dirty, dusty and wet off-road conditions. Powerful four-piston brake calipers grip oversized brake rotors with a diameter of 203 mm and a thickness of 2.3 mm, ensuring fade-free performance even on very long and fast descents.

Internally routed cables

The rear brake cable, shift cable, dropper post cable and all electrical wiring are routed through the frame to protect these sensitive components from the elements, ensuring a longer service life and less maintenance. The no-frills design also cuts a fine figure visually and makes for one of the sleekest silhouettes on the current E-MTB market.

Integrated lighting

The SWITCH/MTN is one of the few bikes in its category with fully integrated LED lighting, which increases both versatility and safety. The BAF (Bright As F***) headlight, specially developed for the Serial 1 and mounted on the stem, comprehensively illuminates the trail ahead, even at high speed.

Super-bright rear and brake lights integrated into the dropouts of the frame ensure that no one rear-ends you on the trail, while the striking LED front light always lights up when the e-bike is switched on, making the rider more visible both day and night.

Intelligent sizing

The optimum riding position for the SWITCH/MTN is sporty yet comfortable and suitable for a wide range of riders. The frame geometry has been adapted for each of the four frame sizes (S, M, L and XL) to ensure a comfortable riding position and a uniform bike center of gravity across all sizes, regardless of the user's height.

Both the frame geometry and the contact points have been carefully evaluated to ensure that our size range is suitable for almost every customer.

Dropper seat post

Thanks to our intelligent size adjustment system, every rider can enjoy the unrestricted functionality of the TranzX dropper seatpost. A quick push on the handlebar-mounted lever allows the rider to adjust the saddle height in an instant for more confident downhill riding and more power uphill.

Serial 1 App: Serial 1 has teamed up with Google Cloud to develop a mobile app that lives up to the Serial 1 name. With app-driven safety features, true Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation and real-time ride data collected directly from the e-bike, the Serial 1 app is the perfect riding assistant for your Serial 1 e-bike.

Access to Google Cloud Analytics and the integration of Google Cloud AI functionality enables Serial 1 to continuously improve its mobile app solutions to ensure the best possible e-bike experience while maintaining the highest level of data security. 

The functions of the Serial 1 app include:

• Precisely integrated digital security: Security is a top priority for all e-bike owners. With Serial 1's pinpoint mode enabled, customers have the ability to track, monitor and digitally lock their Serial 1 e-bike with pinpoint accuracy, no matter how far away it is from them. If movement is detected while the bike is digitally locked, the rider will receive a push notification with several security options that the owner can control via the Serial 1 app, including

• The lights of the e-bike flash in a warning pattern 
• The electric pedal assistance is deactivated
• The owner can view the current location of the bike (or the last known location, in the unlikely event that the bike goes completely offline)

Google Maps route planning and turn-by-turn navigation: By integrating the latest Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation data, users of the Serial 1 app can conveniently plan the optimum bike-specific route directly in the Serial 1 app.

It shows you the best possible route for your bike ride on the map - including local cycle paths, cycle routes and cycle trails. Once you have defined your route, turn-by-turn directions are available to guide you during your ride and keep you on the right track with the most accurate and reliable location services.

• Virtual garage: Register, tag and track your Serial 1 e-bike from the comfort of your own phone. With the help of the virtual garage, you can use your mobile device to view, connect to and monitor your Serial 1 e-bike at the touch of a button. For households that have two or more Serial 1 e-bikes in their real garage, families can manage all bikes in a shared virtual garage.

• Dashboard for real-time journey data: From speed to efficiency, from distance traveled to battery range - you have every detail of your journey right at your fingertips. Here you will find a complete list of all the driving data available via the dashboard:

• Record My Ride: After every completed ride that you have recorded with the Serial 1 app, you will receive a summary of the tour. Over time, you can compare ride and performance data to learn more about your personal riding style and track your progress. 

• Automatic service reminders: Always stay up to date when it comes to the maintenance of your e-bike - with regular service notifications via the Serial 1 app. Serial 1 e-bikes are designed to be virtually maintenance-free. However, once you have ridden a certain amount of time or a certain distance, the Serial 1 app will send you push notifications when it is time for a regular service or when it is time to check any other service functions related to the mechanical longevity of your Serial 1 e-bike.  

Connectivity

The SWITCH/MTN contains a sophisticated IoT (Internet of Things) device that enables the most reliable connection not only via Bluetooth wireless technology, but also via cellular data and/or GPS, so that you can access your bike safely even when it is out of sight of you or other people.

Integrated USB-C device charger

The SWITCH/MTN is equipped with an integrated USB-C charging cable located on the stem. This USB-C cable is perfect for supplying a cell phone with power to run the Serial 1 app and can charge mobile devices with up to 10 W (depending on the mobile device).
