New Hard Candy Custom paint jobs at Harley-Davidson

The Sportster Seventy-Two, the first production motorcycle in Hard Candy Big Red Flake, made its debut in the 2012 model year. The ruby red metallic paint with the cool seventies-style glitter effect evokes memories of the rebellious custom look of classic buggies, bikes and diners of the era.

It proved so successful that Harley-Davidson is offering a select range of such “Hard Candy Custom” paint finishes for the 2013 model year.20HD12_Hard_Candy_Custom
In addition to “Hard Candy Big Red Flake”, the new colors “Hard Candy Lucky Green Flake” and “Hard Candy Coloma Gold Flake” are now available.

The first layer of these finishes is a black base coat. A layer of resin is applied to it, in which countless colored plates are embedded, which are seven times larger than the pigments of conventional metallic paints.

This is followed by several layers of clear varnish, each sanded smooth by hand. This creates an effect of impressive intensity and depth.

Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob and the new Sportster 1200 Custom models

Three for the road

Harley-Davidson presents the facelifted Dyna Street Bob as well as the new Sportster 1200 Custom A and B models

What would life be without a spark of individuality? Even! Harley-Davidson has just in time for its 110th anniversary.

To mark the company's anniversary, the characterful Dyna Street Bob was made even more striking and two special editions of the popular Sportster 1200 Custom were launched.
The most purist Dyna, the Street Bob, is more minimalist than ever in 2013.

To match the black Twin Cam 96, whose upper cooling fins have been polished, the designers have now dipped their dip tubes and fork bridges in black. A new, vibration-isolated riser supports the Mini Ape handlebar with internal cable routing. Not only the new black tank console, the seat cover and the black battery cover are particularly straightforward and clean, but also the rear: instead of a conventional rear light, the machine now has indicators with integrated brake and tail lights.

The range of paint colors for the Dyna Street Bob includes, among other things, the popular matt black denim tone and will be supplemented for 2013 by the new Hard Candy Custom Metalflake variant “Big Red Flake” in the Seventies look with extra-large metallic particles.

21HD12_Street_Bob_2013

A newly designed Harley-Davidson tank emblem in a classic cast design completes the straightforward impression.
Incidentally, three of their family members - the Dyna types Switchback, Wide Glide and Fat Bob - will be powered by the particularly high-torque Twin Cam 103 in 2013. The Sportster 1200 Custom is an extremely handy street machine with a uniquely powerful look. For 2013, Harley-Davidson is also offering it in two Factory Custom Limited Editions: As the “XL 1200CA” in the red and black Nascar look with custom graphics, black five-spoke cast wheels, drag-style handlebars and a matt black engine. And as the “XL 1200CB” in matt black custom paint with black wire-spoke wheels, mini ape and forward footrests.

Like all Harley-Davidson models, the new Sportster models have practical features such as the Smart Security System, which automatically activates and deactivates the immobilizer and alarm system.
Harley-Davidson offers a two-year unlimited mileage warranty, one-year membership in the Harley Owners Group and a one-year mobility warranty.

On October 6, 2012, the “Open House” day at Harley-Davidson, the first new models will be available at authorized dealers.

Harley-Davidson presents the new Softail Slim

Slim and strong

Harley-Davidson presents the new Softail Slim

The early custom bike builders were concerned with transforming motorcycles For example, the Bobbers of the 1940s and 1950s - flat, slimmed down and freed from unnecessary decoration.

The new Softail Slim is committed to this purist look - and it offers it ex works! Its creators reduced it to what counts, and despite its massive 16-inch spoked wheels at the front and rear, the wide Hollywood handlebars with a crossbar and the massive fork, it lives up to its name.

The particularly low solo seat and the slim rear with chopped fender fit perfectly into the minimalist design.

The art of omission did not stop at covers – for ignition coils or fender struts, for example. A reduction that visually emphasizes the engine. The Twin Cam 103B has balance shafts to dampen its vibrations and scores with a torque of 132 Nm at 3,250 rpm and an output of 58 kW (79 hp) at 5,250 rpm. It is coupled to the Cruise Drive six-speed transmission, which ensures low engine speeds on the motorway.

Thanks to the Softail chassis with spring struts concealed beneath the engine, the result is a classic rigid frame look paired with contemporary comfort and light-footed handling. Softail Slim standard , the components of which have been discreetly integrated into the styling

02HD12_Die_neue_Softail_Slim-mThe engine, rims, air filter, headlights, fork bridge cover and many other components are finished in deep black. To keep the look clean, the designers integrated the brake and tail lights into the rear indicators.

The stylish Cat Eye tank console and the classic half moon running boards pay homage to the swing era. The fact that the Softail Slim, despite its retro styling, is technically completely up to date is highlighted by features such as the standard security system, which activates the immobilizer and alarm system fully automatically.

As fascinatingly individual as this bike is designed ex works, there is actually no need for a single change. And anyone who actually wants something even more individual can simply use the countless options that the Parts & Accessories accessories range offers.

If you want to experience the new Softail Slim for yourself, visit your nearest dealer, it is ready and available in the garage at prices starting at 18,795 euros (Austria: from 22,295 euros).

Harley-Davidson presents the new Sportster Seventy-Two

Don't you forget about me

Harley-Davidson presents the new Sportster Seventy-Two

Drip candles, slime, men's handbags and ribbon salad - no one will shed a tear for some of the peculiarities of the Seventies.

But where is that hot orange, where are the hot Bonanza bikes and where are the really cool choppers? Harley-Davidson has a brand new answer to the latter question : It's called the Sportster Seventy-Two - a model name that is not only reminiscent of the 1970s, but also of US Route 72, the popular cruising boulevard in East Los Angeles.

And it was precisely here, in sunny California, that the look was born in the Seventies, to which the team around Harley-Davidson designers Willie G. Davidson and Frank Savage bowed with the new Seventy-Two.

The synthesis of mini-ape handlebars with internally routed cables, deep solo seat and forward footrests is simply a turn-on. The slim 21-inch wire-spoke front wheel and its 16-inch counterpart at the rear are equipped with elegant whitewall tires that underline the old-school look.

A crisply short rear fender covers the 150mm rear tire, while the slim, almost eight liter “peanut” tank inevitably draws the eye to the massive, gray powder-coated V2, equipped with chrome covers and a round air filter. With 49 kW (67 hp) at 5950 rpm and a maximum torque of 96 Nm at 3,500 rpm, it ensures extremely befitting locomotion.

The stable Sportster chassis guarantees comfort and keeps the bike on track at all times in a manageable and unerring manner. If you want to enjoy the pleasure for two, simply retrofit the pillion seat and footrests from the extensive original accessories range.

1The extremely stylish standard components of the Seventy-Two include the chrome-plated bullet indicators at the rear, into which the brake and tail lights have been integrated. The extremely practical features include the security system, which activates the immobilizer and alarm system fully automatically.

And one of the particularly cool finesses is the new, optionally available deep red big flake paint with retro pinstripes - significantly larger flakes than in conventional metal effect paints and a complex manufacturing process ensure an incomparable glitter look.

The Sportster Seventy-Two is warmly recommended to anyone who wants to recapture the best of the “Age of Glamour” feeling. It's already waiting at the nearest authorized dealer and at prices starting at 10,795 euros (Austria: from 12,995 euros) it's coming home with you.

Harley Davidson and Bell & Ross

Harley Davidson and Bell & Ross

Combination of expertise: A cult watch for a cult motorcycle

Bell & Ross Watches and Shaw Harley-Davidson – current world champion of custom Harley-Davidson® motorcycles – have teamed up to create a unique motorcycle : the Bell & Ross-inspired Nescafe Racer.

Shaw Harley-Davidson is the UK's leading dealer and has been named Best Dealer in the UK for the sixth time. Shaw Harley-Davidson approached Bell & Ross with a motorcycle design project inspired by the watchmaker's vision of performance, precision and technology. The same technical precision that Bell & Ross has mastered has also been taken into account when building this unique motorcycle.

The way in which the watch brand Bell & Ross develops and manufactures its watches is reflected in the work of Shaw Harley-Davidson's top technicians in building the project motorcycle, which is based on the Harley-Davidson® FXSTB Softail® Nightrain. One of the most radical Softails - long, low and naked and named after Willie G. Davidson .

The bike was completely disassembled down to the last screw at the dealer's Speed & Custom workshop in East Sussex, England, and every detail was taken into account during the rebuild.

The Shaw Speed & Custom team mounted the BR 01 Carbon – the iconic instrument from Bell & Ross – in a handcrafted aluminum center console. The watch is in a perfect place for its actual function as a professional instrument for the driver. A combination of anodized blue, carbon and a matt black special paint reflects the color of the watch.

We wanted to present the Bell & Ross watch on the motorcycle while ensuring that the important instrument is never compromised by unnecessary design or objects,” says Steve Willis, Shaw Harley-Davidson Sales Director and Head of Speed & Custom Design.

“We were immediately excited about this project,” explains Bruno Belamich, designer and co-founder of Bell & Ross. “We have identified with the values that Harley-Davidson represents – shared values such as the search for extremes, adventure and precision”

The Bell & Ross brand statement says that every detail has its purpose and function. This technical precision is expressed through clean lines and timeless elegance, which inspired the Shaw Harley-Davidson team to build this custom motorcycle.

The bike was a huge hit with the public when presented at the American Motorcycle Dealer (AMD) World Championship – in the Harley-Davidson custom-built class – at the London International Custom Bike Show in Alexandra. The motorcycle was also shown at other events:

  • The Dublin International Motorcycle Show
  • Custom Chrome European Show Mainz
  • St Tropez Harley-Davidson Euro Festival
  • Bournemouth International Custom Motorcycle Show

Bell & Ross now hopes that this partnership will enable Shaw Harley-Davidson to qualify for and retain the world title in Sturgis USA in August 2011.

The bike was a huge hit with the public when presented at the American Motorcycle Dealer (AMD) World Championship – in the Harley-Davidson custom-built class – at the London International Custom Bike Show in Alexandra. The motorcycle was also shown at other events:

  • The Dublin International Motorcycle Show
  • Custom Chrome European Show Mainz
  • St Tropez Harley-Davidson Euro Festival
  • Bournemouth International Custom Motorcycle Show

Bell & Ross now hopes that this partnership will enable Shaw Harley-Davidson to qualify for and retain the world title in Sturgis USA in August 2011.
