Ain't nothing like the real thing
XXL test rides on Harley-Davidson touring bikes
• Extensive “Grand Touring adventure rides” for drivers of third-party models
• Only at authorized Harley-Davidson dealers
If you're looking forward to a delicious hotel breakfast and instead of the delicately turned and creamy scrambled ice cream prepared at 70 to 80 degrees, you're served a mighty dry lump of ready-made egg mixture with charred bits of pressed ham, that rarely makes real gourmets happy. There is simply no substitute for the original.
The situation is similar with large touring motorcycles. For generations, the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide and its siblings from the Touring series have been the irreplaceable quintessence in this segment for countless bikers around the world. But for some motorcycle fans, a few prejudices always stood in the way: too expensive, too unreliable, too old-fashioned - to name just a few.
Harley-Davidson is now inviting these skeptics, who are still sitting on touring machines from other manufacturers, to put aside dusty prejudices and old resentments and finally form their own opinion. You can officially examine one of the current Harley tourers - extensively and according to all the rules of the art. Many German dealers are now offering you the opportunity to do this - as part of the “Grand Touring Adventure Drives”, a large test drive campaign in which the features of the current touring models are presented and explained in advance by an expert. Afterwards, it's time to get on and take off for an XXL ride lasting several hours.
The aim is to feel the power of the Twin Cam 103 engine, put the handling and stability of the chassis to the test, discover the ABS braking system with electronic brake force distribution, discover the diverse options of the high-quality infotainment systems and the proverbial comfort of the big Harley tourers. Even stubborn defeatists realize that Harley-Davidson has a lot of experience in building large touring machines. Experience that is reflected even in supposed details such as the air duct on the fairing, which prevents turbulence in the helmet area.
Anyone who has a smile on their face after the test ride is cleansed once and for all - and runs the risk of changing motorcycles, because the addictive factor of riding a current touring bike should by no means be underestimated. Every Saul who mutates into Paul is in good hands at this moment with the authorized dealer, because trade-in and financing options now make switching to a veritable original from Milwaukee easier than ever.
