I'll make you well, said the bear
The main prize at this year's “Motorcycle Fundraiser” is a Harley-Davidson Street Bob customized by Thunderbike worth around 39,000 euros.
(Siegen, December 3, 2014) When the little tiger is feeling bad, the little bear helps him. And when he doesn't know what to do, the tiger is taken to the hospital, where Doctor Brausefrosch quickly gets him back on his feet - after all, only a strip had slipped. If only everything in life had remained as simple as in Janosch's children's books!
Welcome to reality: Today, numerous German hospitals are under massive financial pressure, which often leads to the closure of entire departments or the clinic's insolvency. In order to ensure adequate care for patients in the future, Arnd Dickel, marketing man at the DRK Children's Clinic in Siegen and a seasoned V-Twin fan, came up with the “motorcycle fundraiser”. The idea: Everyone who donates at least 5 euros takes part in a big raffle for attractive prizes donated by the motorcycle industry and also has the nice feeling of having done something good - they are helping the Siegen children's clinic, more than 56,000 kids and To care for young people from North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate who rely on the hospital's help year after year.
In 2014 and 2015, the “Motorcycle Fundraising Campaign” is starting its second round – and the main prize is once again impressive: Harley-Davidson Germany GmbH donated a Sportster 883 SuperLow for the campaign. Andreas Bergerforth, boss of Thunderbike, Harley-Davidson Niederrhein, went one better and swapped the bike for a Street Bob.
And since the Hamminkelners not only have a heart for children, but are also world champion custom bike builders, they rebuilt the bike from start to finish.
Now the result has been presented: an extra-cool chopper, in the style of Thunderbike. The numerous modifications include the breakout wheels with the fat 240 at the rear as well as handlebars, footrests, handles, air filter, seat, fender and license plate holder made in Hamminkeln. A “Jekill & Hyde” exhaust and a work of paintwork by Ingo Kruse are the icing on the cake of this custom bike.
Anyone who wants to park the fascinating unique piece, worth around 39,000 euros, in their garage at home should transfer at least 5 euros to the donation account at the Volksbank to the DRK Children's Clinic Siegen using the keyword “Harley” and stating their name and address Siegerland (BIC: GENODEM1SNS, IBAN: DE57460600400765123605). Every euro goes to the hospital's patients. Further information and the conditions of participation can be found at www.spendenaktion-motorrad.de.
