Clear country-specific preferences: Bikers from all over Europe together with MotorradreifenDirekt.de choose their personal „Motorcycle Tires of the Year“
- Results of the big MotorradreifenDirekt.de survey for the „Motorcycle Tire of the Year“ are available.
- More than 3,000 bikers from ten countries voted for their favorite tire models in eight categories.
- Brands from their own home country from their own home country.

Bikers know what they want. They often have precise demands on their equipment and correspondingly clear convictions when it comes to brands and models. What these are apparently also depends on which countrymen they are.
At least that's what the results of MotorradreifenDirekt.de's Europe-wide „Motorcycle Tire of the Year“ survey suggest.
On the one hand, these reveal a rather heterogeneous field of winners, on the other hand, they show clear country-specific preferences: The country of origin of the tire brand obviously has a clear relevance for its popularity - motorcyclists from Germany, for example, prefer Continental, French bikers are loyal to Michelin and Italian two-wheeler fans rely on Pirelli.
A total of around 3,150 people took part in the survey. From July to September, MotorradDirekt.de invited bikers in a total of ten European countries (Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain) to name their favorites in nine categories from a selection of current models.
The winners in Germany are:
- Touring category: ContiRoadAttack 3
Although the Michelin Road 5 is the clear overall winner in six countries, including France, with 42 percent of all votes, a clear majority in Germany also voted for the ContiRoadAttack 3 as Motorcycle Tire of the Year in this category, with 36 percent of the votes. The Michelin came in third place after the newly launched Pirelli Angel GT II. - Chopper/Cruiser category: Metzeler Cruisetec
First place in this category is shared by the Metzeler Cruisetec and the Michelin Commander II, which were favored in three countries each. From Metzeler's point of view, this is an impressive success, as the brand new Cruisetec has obviously positioned itself on the market within a very short time and can already keep up with the established Commander II. - Enduro/road category: ContiTrailAttack 3
In the enduro/road segment, there is a preference for new products across all countries. In the UK, for example, the new Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross AX41 was voted motorcycle tire of the year, as was the new Michelin Anakee Adventure in five countries, making it the overall winner with 38 percent of all votes. In contrast, the Conti model won in Germany and Austria with over 20 percent each, while in Italy and the Netherlands the motorcycle tire of the year was the Pirelli Scorpion Pro.
Many bikers trust the manufacturer from their own country
It is striking that bikers seem to trust those brands that originally come from their country the most.
This is most evident in France, where only Michelin models were chosen as the winners. The preferences are also clear in Germany with Conti and Metzeler, as well as in Italy with Pirelli.
It is also remarkable that British bikers seem to have a preference for Bridgestone,“ explains Andreas Faulstich from MotorradDirekt.de.
„Overall, however, the picture is relatively mixed. That's why we deliberately focus on the widest possible range, so that bikers from all over Europe can find the tires they want here.“
Among all participants in the survey MotorcycleTiresDirect.com Prizes with a total value of 2,000 euros were raffled off, including a SENA Momentum smart helmet, a GoPro camera and store vouchers worth 200 euros.
