Theft of a Harley-Davidson in Böblingen

Police light with “police messages” for Harley and motorcycle safety.

Am Mittwoch, dem 23. Oktober 2024, stahl ein bislang unbekannter Täter ein Motorrad in Böblingen. Der Mann gab in einem Geschäft vor, eine Probefahrt machen zu wollen, und nutzte einen Moment der Unaufmerksamkeit, um mit einer gelben Harley-Davidson Street Bob 114 im Wert von über 20.000 Euro zu entkommen. Der Täter, etwa 30 Jahre alt und 170 cm groß, trug Sonnenbrille und Kapuzenpullover. Drei weitere Männer waren in den Vorfall verwickelt.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, a witness noticed a yellow motorcycle on the Bundesstraße 28 near Bad Urach that had been reported stolen. The witness informed the police, whereupon several patrol cars from the Reutlingen and Ulm police headquarters and a police helicopter pursued the rider and the motorcycle. The motorcyclist initially escaped as he was traveling at a very high speed. At around 4.45 pm, the suspect was finally discovered on foot in Bad Urach-Wittlingen.

The police arrested the 31-year-old, who initially tried to identify himself with false personal details, and took him to Metzingen police station. The stolen motorcycle was discovered near a kindergarten in Wittlingen, together with a hidden helmet, clothing and the keys to the vehicle. The Harley-Davidson was seized and towed away. The suspect, who is facing charges of particularly serious theft, was provisionally released after the police had completed their investigations. The motorcycle will be returned to its rightful owner after forensic examination while the investigation continues.
