Tire burst on the highway
Switzerland and his 53-year-old wife were injured in a traffic accident on the Hansa line A1 between the Stuckenborstel and Bockel junctions on Thursday afternoon
The man was traveling towards Bremen at around 1:15 p.m. at a speed of around 120 kilometers per hour when the rear tire of his Harley-Davidson burst. Although he managed to slow down slightly, the heavy machine began to lurch.
The pillion passenger lost her footing behind her husband and fell from the motorcycle onto the road. Drivers who noticed the accident slowed down and had the presence of mind to place their semi-trailers at an angle in front of the woman to protect her from the traffic behind her.
The 53-year-old was flown in a rescue helicopter to the Diakonieklinikum in Rotenburg with serious injuries. Her husband suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital. The motorway had to be closed for around an hour while rescue measures were carried out. The police estimate the property damage at around 2,500 euros.
