Too loud: Police take motorcycles out of traffic

The police carried out targeted checks on motorcyclists on Tuesday and Wednesday on the “Luttern” and “Zur Lutternschen Egge” roads across the Wiehengebirge. Technical changes were noticed on some motorcycles.

The traffic service officials had chosen the early evening hours from 6 p.m. for the checks. On Tuesday they found three motorcycles whose operating license had expired as a result of technical changes. One of the drivers was a 50-year-old man from Bad Oeynhausen. He had installed an illegal exhaust and air filter system on his Harley-Davidson that was too loud. The man was forbidden to continue driving, so the machine had to be picked up with a trailer.

The following day, four more motorcycles were checked and the conversions were also not permitted. This resulted in the expiry of the operating license. Among others, a Harley-Davidson driver (62) was hit again. He had installed an exhaust system on his motorcycle that was only approved for the USA. In this case too, the journey ended at the checkpoint. In total, only 15 motorcycles could be found and checked on both days.
