Traffic accident involving a seriously injured motorcyclist

Lebach Police Station – Schmelz district:

On March 11, 2023, at 3:11 p.m., a traffic accident occurred in Schmelz, leaving a motorcyclist seriously injured. At the time of the accident, the 20-year-old woman from Püttlingen was traveling on the B 268, coming from Schattertriesch and heading in the direction of Schmelz. Approximately 300 meters before the junction with Herrenkrippchen street, the motorcyclist overtook a car in front of her.

After completing the turning maneuver, she loses control of her motorcycle and veers off the road to the right. She then collides with a protruding tree root in the grass verge and is thrown from the motorcycle. Both the motorcycle and the rider roll over. The rider is seriously injured and taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. The motorcycle is a write-off.
