Traffic accident with a seriously injured motorcyclist

On March 11, 2023, at 3:11 p.m., there was a traffic accident with a seriously injured motorcyclist in Schmelz. At the time of the accident, the 20-year-old woman from Püttlingen was driving on the B 268, coming from Schattertriesch, in the direction of Schmelz. Approximately 300 meters before the junction with the “Herrenkrippchen” street, the cyclist overtakes a car in front of her.
After completing the cut-in process, she loses control of her motorcycle and veers off the road to the right. She then collides with a protruding tree root in the green area and is thrown off the motorcycle. Both the motorcycle and the driver overturn. The driver is seriously injured and taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. The motorcycle was a total loss.
