Trier – accident escape with seriously injured motorcyclist

On Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, a traffic accident occurred on the B51 between Tawern and Konz at around 3:50 p.m. According to the current status of the investigation, a dark Cupra car driving towards Saarburg ended up in the oncoming lane in the curve area. The oncoming motorcycle driver had to swerve to the right to avoid a head-on collision. He fell and sustained serious injuries.

The Finnish national was taken to a Trier hospital for treatment. The unknown driver of the car continued his journey towards Saarburg. The rescue service, a rescue helicopter, the volunteer fire department from Konz-Könen and the Saarburg police station were in action. The B51 was completely closed for around 30 minutes at the time the accident was recorded.

The Saarburg police station initiated an investigation into negligent bodily harm and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident. Witnesses who can provide relevant information about the matter are asked to call 06581 9155-0.
