Trier - Hit-and-run accident with seriously injured motorcyclist
Hit-and-run Cupra car on Saturday, 23.04.22 between Tauern and Konz
On Saturday, 23.04.2022, a traffic accident occurred on the B51 between Tawern and Konz at around 3:50 pm. According to the current state of the investigation, a dark Cupra car driving towards Saarburg crossed into the oncoming lane on a bend. The oncoming driver of a motorcycle had to swerve to the right to avoid a head-on collision. This caused him to fall and sustain serious injuries.
The Finnish national was taken to a hospital in Trier for treatment. The unknown driver of the car continued his journey in the direction of Saarburg. The emergency services, a rescue helicopter, the volunteer fire department from Konz-Könen and the Saarburg police station were deployed. The B51 was fully closed for around 30 minutes while the accident was being investigated.
The Saarburg police department has opened an investigation into negligent bodily injury and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident. Witnesses who can provide relevant information are asked to call 06581 9155-0.
