Vehicle registration will be fundamentally easier from September 2023
The online vehicle registration in combination with the ID card and activated online function saves you having to go to the authorities. We are actually not used to the fact that things become really easier when dealing with authorities. The cabinet has already announced on February 15, 2023, which was announced by Federal Minister Dr. The ordinance submitted by Volker Wissing to reissue the vehicle registration ordinance was approved and passed. On March 31, 2023, the Federal Council also approved the whole thing and the new edition of the digital i-vehicle registration will be launched from September 1, 2023.
In many registration districts it has been possible to carry out re-registration online or to carry out transfers and deregistrations online since October 2019. From September onwards it will be even easier and more extensive.
The magic word is i-KFZ and means: “Internet-based vehicle registration”. You need an ID card with the online ID function activated, for which you have received a PIN code and the ID card app2 should be installed on your cell phone.
The ID app can generally be a good companion in combination with the ID card and the online function. Today you can also open a bank account using these functions and verify yourself viaidentificationapp2.
What will change from September 1, 2023
As soon as you have re-registered your vehicle online, it should be possible to drive on the road without vehicle documents and stickers. The digital admission notice is valid for 10 days, after which the stickers must have been attached. You can therefore take part in traffic directly if you have successfully completed the online process.
There are also options to apply for special license plates, such as E-license plates, classic car license plates and seasonal license plates. From September it will also be possible for legal entities under private law to use the online services. These include car dealerships and registration service providers and others who submit a large number of registration applications per year. The special highlight is that it should actually be cheaper.
