The first and most important information: The event is for early risers. Anyone who thinks they can only set off in the late afternoon has long since missed the best part and can only see the dust cloud of departing Harleys. The whole thing has something of a speed dating especially for Harleys. Before 10:00 a.m. the area is still quiet, the exhibitors are ready, and the tumbleweed blows through the streets like in an old western. 10:00 sharp and everything changes.
You actually have to experience it yourself: When the big iron gate is pushed open on time and things finally get going. The Harleys stand in a row in front of the gate and wait to be let in - basically an event in itself. Then we go in in groups so that everyone can park in peace and there is no chaos. If you want to get in quicker, you should have your VIP express check-in card with you. Within the first few hours the area is almost full, and there is even a temporary stop to entry if it gets too tight. So it's worth getting up early!
Basically, events with an entrance fee often have a difficult time - it feels different here. Five euros from the entrance fee goes to the museum, and the location alone is something very special, and that alone makes it worth it. It's “only” a one-day event, but well-known exhibitors come from all over the country - I've never experienced anything like that before. In addition to the three Harley-Davidson authorized dealers Pfeiffer, MotoMaxx and Thunderbike, there are really well-known exhibitors in Hattingen.
At the Harley Meeting Ruhrpott you will find over 50 exhibitors from the scene - everything your heart desires: from exhaust systems to jewelry, helmets, airbrushes and chassis, everything is there.
I would say that if you still have vacation days left and if the weather is at least fair, you shouldn't miss the atmosphere and this extraordinary event. The event runs at full throttle for about five hours - in that time you have to look at all the Harleys that pull up there, and there are a lot of really nice machines. By the way, the location is perfect for taking pictures of your own bike against the backdrop of the old industrial museum.
