Welcome to the Family

Get your Class A driver's license with the Academy of Motorcycling: Actor Armin Rohde has his license in his pocket –
and soon the Harley-Davidson in the garage

After his breakthrough in „Kleine Haie“ (Little Sharks), he became one of Germany's most popular actors with films such as „Der bewegte Mann“ (The Most Desired Man), „Rossini,“ „Das Leben ist eine Baustelle“ (Life Is a Construction Site), and „Lola rennt“ (Run Lola Run). Armin Rohde is an actor with heart and soul. And since childhood, this man has had a big dream: „After I saw ‚Easy Rider,’ I was on fire. From then on, I wanted to go to America, and from then on, I wanted to ride a Harley!“ After he was allowed to ride a Harley in the 2001 Tatort episode ‚Bestien’—on a closed track, due to his lack of a motorcycle license—he was finally infected with the ‚V-Twin virus.’.

„The real rockers we had on set for the film told me, ‚It's got your name on it. It suits you perfectly!’“ Rohde recalls. So after filming, he signed up for a Class A driver's license several times, but was never able to follow through because film, television, or theater projects kept getting in the way. He was lucky to discover the Academy of Motorcycling in 2007. Here, people who haven't ridden a bike for years are trained in how to handle a two-wheeler, and motorcycle novices like Armin Rohde can get their license within 14 days. In a relaxed holiday atmosphere, under the guidance of experienced instructors and driving teachers and – of course – exclusively on machines made in the USA. Rohde had already registered when he realized that his job would once again thwart his plans in 2007. A year later, the time had finally come, and on April 23, 2008, Armin Rohde, grinning from ear to ear, signed his license for two-wheeled riding pleasure.

The global Harley-Davidson family will soon welcome a new member—that is, if Armin Rohde decides on one of the 28 current models from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When you have so many choices...

Meanwhile, the popular courses offered by the Academy of Motorcycling at the Robinson Clubs Fleesensee (Germany) and Cala Serena (Mallorca) are continuing at full speed. Anyone wishing to obtain their driver's license will have to wait until 2009; those returning to the sport who would like to secure one of the remaining places for the current year should register quickly.
