Weekend driving bans for bikers - excessive or useful against motorcycle noise?
Weekend driving bans for bikers - excessive or useful against motorcycle noise?
Interactive live talk on Thursday, April 1 at 11:30 a.m. on www.adac-mittelrhein.de/digitalesforum
Unnecessary noise or an indispensable lifestyle? Residents living near idyllic country roads are becoming increasingly exasperated by motorcycle noise. For reasons of noise protection, the Federal Council is calling for time-limited Driving bans on Sundays and public holidays. The biker are against it and insist on their right to ride their bikes anywhere and at any time.
Both sides have good arguments, but which weighs heavier? We will be discussing this with residents and bikers as well as representatives from politics and business at the second #digitalForum of the ADAC Mittelrhein e.V., das pünktlich zu Beginn der Motorradsaison am Donnerstag, 1. April um 11.30 Uhr virtuell auf www.adac-mittelrhein.de/digitalesforum stattfindet.
„With the Digital Forum, we want to bring all stakeholders to the table. In our view, collective punishment does not contribute to solving the problem, because most Motorcyclist are considerate on the road. Instead of blanket bans, we must appeal to motorcyclists to drive responsibly,“ demands Rudi Speich, Head of Traffic & Technology at ADAC Mittelrhein e.V.
The ADAC recently launched a nationwide pilot project for this purpose. In the Gelbachtal valley, which is a popular destination for motorcyclists with its winding roads, signs have been installed to draw bikers' attention to noise-sensitive sections of road.
But is this a panacea?
What do residents and those affected say?
Where can motorcycle manufacturers become active?
How can politics provide support?
Answers to these and many other questions can be found in the interactive live talk organized by ADAC Mittelrhein e.V:
Rolf Deviscour, Chief Superintendent Prüm Police Station
Rolf Frieling, Chairman Biker Union
Ulrich Jürgens, Mayor of Isselbach
Frank Puchtler, District Administrator, Rhine-Lahn district
Rudi Speich, Chairman Traffic & Technology ADAC Mittelrhein e.V.
Viewers can also ask questions directly to the studio guests before and during the interactive live talk. A short e-mail to dialog@mrh.adac.de is sufficient, the questions will be answered live during the broadcast.
