Crooked deal? No way!
Wunderlich carbon fiber crash guard and heat shield for the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 – anything but a „crooked thing“
The exhaust manifold of the rear cylinder on the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 twists, bends, and curves until it reaches the collector. Just like the exhaust manifold guard and heat shield from Wunderlich, which follows the organic shape of the manifold (comes from "krumm," meaning crooked) and fits perfectly into the side flyline of the Pan America.
Exhaust manifold guard and heat shield, made from genuine carbon fiber. And because quality is paramount at Wunderlich, the specialists for high-quality parts and accessories have the protective cover manufactured exclusively by Ilmberger, the carbon fiber specialist. It is a solid yet lightweight cover that serves as thermal and mechanical protection, reliably shielding the radiant heat from the rear cylinder manifold and preventing direct contact between the right lower leg and the hot manifold pipe. For good reasons, the Wunderlich developers have made the carbon heat shield 130 millimeters longer than the standard sheet metal version.
This protects against painful burns and prevents damage to protective clothing from thermal influences. At the same time, it offers a high level of mechanical protection against scratches or dents to the manifold that can occur when riding off-road or in the event of an unfortunate fall. The heat shield is constructed in one piece and is mounted thermally decoupled so that contact has no consequences. Functional, integrated design in a carbon adventure look.

The organic shape flows smoothly along the curve, blending perfectly into the side flyline of the Pan America. Installation is incredibly easy with the help of the included mounting kit. The heat shield replaces the original series part.

Good to know!
Carbon has two key advantages: weight savings (typically around 70% compared to the original component) and greater component rigidity. Ilmberger uses pre-impregnated carbon fiber matrices for its high-quality carbon. The fiber volume is dimensioned and the alignment of the individual fiber layers is defined. The matrix is then hand-laminated without bubbles and coated twice with a protective coating. The additional clear coat protects and emphasizes the three-dimensional effect of the carbon structure. After curing in an autoclave, the carbon components meet the highest standards and withstand the most demanding conditions. These carbon components underline the high-tech claim with the unique look of real carbon.
