ZZ TOP BASSIST DUSTY HILL HAS DIED
Suddenly you realize that the lives of rock legends are also finite. Dusty Hill passed away peacefully at home in Houston Texas. The band had announced a week earlier that Dusty was returning to Texas to recover. On July 28th, 2021 the news came that Dusty Hill died.
Over 50 years of rock 'n roll and blues
The band was founded in Houston Texas in 1969 and has been successful in the 80s until today. The first live performance in Germany was in 1980 at the Rockpalast and is now part of rock history

Even before Dusty drove to Texas, he said, “The show must go on . He wasn't feeling well, he wanted to see his doctor and Mr. Elwood Francis was supposed to step in until further notice.
Ellwood is the band's long-time guitar technician, who received the instructions before Dusty left for home. That feels a bit crazy, certainly Ellwood can't really replace ZZ TOP's second singer and bassist. But if it goes ahead, it might be a good thing if it's someone from your own ranks and he even got the blessing.
Those are big shoes to fill! It was unforgettable when Dusty Hill and Bill Gibbons performed their legendary dance steps with their knee bounces and synchronized guitar swings on stage. They always included Frank Beard
The band ZZ TOP has always been a big number, especially in the rocker scene. Whether hot rod classic cars or the Harley-Davidson old school lifestyle, they were always right here and important for the scene. Their striking appearance in particular, with the long beards, the cowboy style and dark sunglasses in combination with their dance rockers, will go down in rock history and cannot be replaced.
Dusty co-founded the band ZZ TOP at the age of 20 and died at the age of 72. 50 years of rock and blues history leaves the stage.
“We are saddened to learn today that our friend Dusty Hill died in his sleep at his home in Houston, Texas. We and all ZZ Top fans around the world will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and your continued will to be the monumental foundation of 'Top'. We will forever be linked to the “Blues Shuffle in C.” We’ll miss you dearly, amigo.”
