The Swiss Harley Days in Lugano will take place from July 5th to 7th, 2024 .
Lugano in Ticino – A highlight on the Harley Road Map 2024
The venue is in Lugano, in the beautiful holiday region of Ticino, which is one of the Harley-Davidson events that I have on my road map for 2024. The event in Switzerland has a two-year rhythm. Planning at Harley-Davidson for the 2024 event is underway and the program is in place.
According to Harleysite information, Harley-Davidson will change the concept slightly. For the first time there will be an “Andermatt Freedom Ride” starting in Andermatt. The official Harley-Davidson dealers will be offering the new models and an extensive range from the MotorClothes Collection in the EXPO AREA.
ANDERMATT FREEDOM RIDE
Harley-Davidson presents the “Andermatt Freedom Ride” on July 4th, parallel to Independence Day , in Andermatt. The event on Piazza Gottardo in front of the Radisson Blu marks the start of the Swiss Harley Days 2024 . Another highlight: On July 5th, a shared ride will take you over the Gotthard to Lugano – the official “Ride In” for the Swiss Harley Days 2024 .
Harley-Davidson meeting in Switzerland – the program and the highlights
Harley-Davidson is expecting 50,000 visitors to the largest Harley-Davidson meeting in Switzerland this year. The program is correspondingly extensive. In addition to the many exhibitors and especially the location itself, which is already an attraction, the focus is of course on riding a Harley in the beautiful surroundings. A diverse entertainment program awaits you in the evening.
The highlights include the new “Andermatt Freedom Ride” , the Harley-Davidson Parade on Sunday and the Custombike Show Finale on Sunday.

I recommend subscribing to Harleysite newsletter I've already picked out a few tips and information about Lugano for you here.
The town of Lugano in beautiful Ticino, Switzerland
Lugano is one of the most famous cities in Ticino, the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. The city offers a mix of Swiss and Italian culture and is known for its breathtaking nature, art and quality of life. The place has a very beautiful promenade and a particularly beautiful old town.
With over 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, Lugano is also one of the sunniest places in Switzerland. The super-rich also know this, because of the 64,000 inhabitants, over 5,000 are millionaires and 31 of them have over 100 million, 31 are even billionaires. George Clooney is also said to be spending time with his family near Lake Como in the summer. In Lugano it is quite possible to meet one or two film stars, racing drivers and musicians, if you recognize them.
And right in the middle of all the glitz and glamour, the Swiss Harley Days place. I've visited Lugano itself before, it's definitely worth it, especially in connection with Harley-Davidson. That's what makes it special, no matter how different the Harley-Davidson events and venues may be, it's all there.
Switzerland generally offers a lot of beautiful photo opportunities, and an extensive tour is worth it.
Here you will find some of the highlights that the beautiful town of Lugano and its surroundings have in store for you:
What’s on offer in Lugano!
Lake Lugano : The lake is the heart of the city and offers numerous opportunities for water sports, boat trips and relaxation on the shore.
Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore : These mountains offer fantastic city and lake views and cable car rides.
Museo d'Arte della Svizzera Italiana (MASI) : This museum offers an extensive collection of works of art from Italian-speaking Switzerland and beyond.
Shopping and Dining : Via Nassa : This shopping street is known for its luxury shops and boutiques. Grotti : These traditional Ticino restaurants offer local specialties such as risotto, polenta and Merlot wine.
San Grato Botanical Garden : A garden with a wide variety of plant species and wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.
San Lorenzo Cathedral : An impressive example of Renaissance architecture with a rich history.
Lakeside Villas : Some impressive villas and mansions line the shores of Lake Lugano.
Popular routes
From Lugano to Morcote : This is a short but very beautiful route along Lake Lugano. There is a very nice view of the lake from the mountain in Morcote, it's worth it.
Gotthard Pass : One of the most famous Alpine crossings with breathtaking scenery.
San Bernardino Pass : A less traveled but equally impressive alpine route.
Sightseeing features
Take the opportunity to visit local attractions such as Parco Ciani.
Parco Ciani, also known as Parco Città di Lugano or simply Ciani Park, is the most famous and largest public park in Lugano, Switzerland. It is located right on the shore of Lake Lugano and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the lake itself. The park is named after the Ciani family, who once owned the adjacent property.
Ancient Trees : The park is known for its impressive ancient trees, including many rare and exotic species.
Monuments and sculptures : In the park you will find various monuments and works of art, including the monument to the Swiss national hero William Tell.
Viewpoints : There are several benches and viewpoints from which you can enjoy the scenic surroundings.
Photography : The park offers numerous photo opportunities, especially at sunset.
Parco Ciani is easy to reach and close to the city center, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It's an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a little nature. The park is one of the most visited places in Lugano and is easily accessible, making it an ideal destination for a day trip or even just a few hours of relaxation. There are parking spaces nearby, but they can fill up quickly, especially on weekends.
The Parco Ciani is located in Lugano, the largest city in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. It is located right on the shores of Lake Lugano and is just a short walk from the city center. The exact address is:
Parco Ciani (Parco Città di Lugano) Viale Carlo Cattaneo 6900 Lugano Switzerland
At around 925 meters above sea level, it is not one of the highest mountains in Switzerland, but it offers one of the most beautiful views of the surrounding region, including Lake Lugano and the Alps.
Highlights
Beautiful view : From the summit you have a spectacular view of Lugano, Lake Lugano and even the Alps.
Restaurants : There are a few mountain restaurants where you can enjoy local Ticino specialties.
Photography : The viewpoints are ideal for landscape photography.
Directions
Cable car : The easiest way to reach Monte Brè is the Lugano-Cassarate cable car.
On the Harley : There is also a road that leads to the summit, but it is quite narrow and winding.
Local laws
In Switzerland you always have to wear a helmet.
Pay attention to the speed limits, the penalties can be quite high.
There are noise cameras in Switzerland, but at the moment it's probably still the case that they only indicate that you're being too loud.
The following speed limits apply: in towns 50 km/h, outside towns 80 km/h, expressways (motorways) 100 km/h, motorways 120 km/h. It is recommended that you stick to it at all costs, as the penalties are very high in Switzerland.
Toll obligation
When do I need a vignette: Cars, motorcycles, caravans, vans and campers up to 3.5 tonnes require a vignette on Swiss motorways and motorway roads. It is available as an adhesive vignette and also as an e-vignette for around 40 CHF (around €42), as an annual vignette. You can order the vignette online here!
Breaks and meals
In Ticino there are many inns and restaurants where you can try local specialties such as risotto and polenta.
