PAN AMERICA 1250 SPECIAL

PAN AMERICA 1250 SPECIAL

As a premium touring enduro, the Pan America 1250 Special comes with numerous other exclusive features.

The Pan America 1250 Special is characterized by an electronically adjustable semi-active suspension at the front and rear. Based on the data stream from the vehicle sensors, this wheel suspension automatically adjusts the damping to the ground conditions and driving activity.

The semi-active suspension components come from Showa, the control software from Harley-Davidson itself. The Vehicle Loading Control System registers the weight of the driver, front passenger and luggage and automatically adjusts the spring preload of the rear suspension strut.

•   Reifenluftdruck-Kontrollsystem (Tire Pressure Monitoring System, TPMS)

The TPMS tire pressure monitoring system shows the tire pressures on the colour display and warns the driver if the tire pressure is too low. Both handling and tire life benefit from correct tire pressure.

•   Hauptständer

With the main stand, the motorcycle upright and then requires less parking space than on the side stand - an advantage in tight garages. At the same time, the rear wheel is raised, which makes maintenance and tire changes easier at home and on the road.

•   Einstellbares Bremspedal

The brake pedal can be adjusted in two positions without tools and therefore remains optimally accessible even when riding in a standing position. This riding technique is essential for off-road riding in order to maintain control of the motorcycle in difficult passages and to be able to see the terrain ahead better.

•   Schutzbügel

The protective bars made of tubular steel protect the radiator from damage and also serve as handholds to help the motorcycle stand upright again after any falls.

•   Leichtmetall-Motorschutz

The robust engine guard protects the crankcase from impacts.

•      Adaptiver Daymaker-Signature-Scheinwerfer

The state-of-the-art technology of the adaptive Daymaker headlamp is based on the inertial sensor technology of the cornering ABS to determine the lean angle and automatically illuminate the area in front of the vehicle right into corners and areas that would not be illuminated without this technology with a conventional LED headlamp when cornering. This ensures a safe driving experience on dark roads.

Both provide increased comfort in cold weather. The heated grips work in three stages, which can be selected with a button.

•   Lenkungsdämpfer

The steering damper helps to prevent the handlebars from bouncing when the front wheel becomes light when riding hard off-road.

•   Optional ab Werk: Adaptive Ride Height

Harley-Davidson is the first motorcycle manufacturer to offer automatic suspension lowering. The new technology is the Pan America 1250 Special and optionally available for these. The technology ensures secure ground contact when stationary without compromising the ground clearance and lean angle while riding.

The revolutionary system automatically lowers the seat height for stopping and raises it to the optimum position for riding after starting off. The system allows the rider to comfortably climb onto the Pan America 1250 Special when stationary and always have safe contact with the ground.

Depending on the automatically set spring preload on the rear wheel, the lowering is 25 to 50 millimetres. All the features of the semi-active suspension are retained in conjunction with Adaptive Ride Height.

The system does not reduce the suspension travel. Lean angle clearance, ground clearance and ride comfort also remain unaffected during the ride.

Adaptive Ride Height offers four selectable modes:

  • Auto mode: The system automatically sets the lowering speed based on the braking force in order to fully lower the chassis and thus the seat height in good time when stopping.
  • Short Delay and Long Delay modes: In these modes, the lowering is delayed to keep the seat height high at low speeds, such as when driving slowly in a parking lot.
  • Locked mode: The automatic lowering of the chassis is deactivated. This mode is intended for tall riders, for example, who do not require lowering when stationary, or for off-road riding at low speeds.

•   Optional ab Werk:

Cross-spoke wheels for tubeless tires
For customers who like to ride off-road, Harley-Davidson offers cross-spoke wheels as a factory option instead of the standard cast-spoke wheels. The stainless steel spokes of these wheels are guided past the tire bead into the rim. This special design offers further advantages when riding off-road.
